I believe 815 was the flight number as well. And the number of the copier Locke had when it showed him at work.

In the first episode Jack tells Kate about the surgery that taught him how to let the fear in ... he was operating on a 16 year old girl

If the numbers represent letters i would be:

Kate's airplane toy is the key. And by key, I mean the KEY. I predict that they will open or break the plane to reveal some sort of device or container inside, that will only activate or be able to be opened by using the Numbers as the combination

I was wondering that also. And what did he do to his family? (remember in the interview when he was talking about that, before his grandfather keeled over)
