There are some fast-food Mexican restaurants in southern TX that hand-make their tortillas...and holy ****ing shit. Totally different level.

i've had them 'in house' made - makes a ginormous difference - i love the corn variety, in those instances.

My inlaws scour the area for such places - God only knows how many of them I've eaten at over the years. Most are pretty good, some are exceptional. A couple absolutely sucked.

Sadly, our favorite local hole-in-the-wall Italian place is closing next month - owners are retiring. It's a bummer.

true "Mexican" food has a corn tortilla, not a flour tortilla. When a "Mexican" restaurant brings you an burrito or whatever and it's a flour tortilla, that should tell you all you need to know about how traditional it is. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it ain't traditional.

it's truly a great town, I thoroughly enjoyed it there. Yes the food can roll w/ most any place. I ate at the Original Maggianos and it was snowing outside, we were upstairs, there.
