The only major thing that advance voting has an effect on is voter turnout. Regardless of who wins, I would hope that we all want a great turnout.

Anything that shortens the voting period is good news for reducing fraud opportunities, so I get you. Shortening it back to a single day is best though.

how would that reduce voter fraud? Wouldn't more time to check the validity of the early voting folks reduce fraud?

Not the Libya scandal, but early voting enhances the voter fraud aspect. I dont think we need to go any further than the Al Franken certification to realize that early voting/vote counting can be screwed with to the point of certifying an election before all votes are counted or dismissed properly. This creates confusion and chaos in the election process that instead of taking one day, takes weeks/months to certify.

Obviously Obama is pounding the "vote early" message for the same reason the Republican infrastructure in Ohio tried to shut down early voting in Ohio before a judge told them to knock it off: Dem voters are less reliable than GOP voters.

If the GOP spent a lot of time, money, and resources to pound on the vote early message, they would just shift voters who would vote on election day. It makes more sense for Dem voters who might be poor and in inflexible shift jobs to pound into their skull to go ahead and vote on the weekend when they have a day off.
