Chiefs-Jags game blacked out in Jax/Orlando/etc.

I originally had this posted in a different thread, but I figured since there are probably members that read this board in the affected markets, they might find this info important if they aren't going to the game....

JAGUARS NOTEBOOK: Blackout official with over 9,000 unsold tickets

By VITO STELLINO, The Times-Union

There are plenty of empty seats on the Jaguars' bandwagon these days.

Jaguars fans proved two weeks ago that they will buy tickets to see a 3-0 team, but are more reluctant spend money on a team with a 3-2 record coming off a pair of losses.

The Jaguars, who lifted a blackout two weeks ago against Indianapolis when they were 3-0, didn't even bother to ask for an extension of the 72-hour blackout rule on Thursday.

With 9,400 non-premium tickets still unsold, they announced it will be blacked out in Jacksonville and in such secondary markets as Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Orlando and Savannah.

Two weeks ago, the Jaguars asked for an extension for the Indianapolis game because tickets were selling well and then gave the final 1,500 non-premium tickets to hurricane workers to lift the blackout.

Of the 11 regular-season home games the Jaguars have played the last two years, this will be the eighth to be blacked out.

Stroud back to tackle?

Coach Jack Del Rio sent a signal that he's not likely to continue to play Marcus Stroud as a full-time defensive end when he re-signed defensive lineman Derrick Ransom and waived safety Ray Perryman.

A seven-year veteran, Ransom, who played five years in Kansas City and five games with the Cardinals last year, was cut by the Jaguars on Sept.5. Although he mainly plays tackle, Ransom seen some action at end in his career, and Del Rio said he wouldn't rule out using him at end "on some early run downs if we needed to."

That would indicate the Jaguars will go with a rotation system at end instead of playing Stroud every down at end, the way they did in San Diego. The team's depth at end has been ravaged by injuries.

Del Rio jokes about switch

Del Rio was in such a good mood that he could joke about his controversial move of Stroud from tackle to end in San Diego.

"Thank goodness it wasn't the quarterback. If it's the quarterback, I've got to answer a million questions," he said.

From an X's and O's standpoint, Del Rio said it wasn't that big a switch.

"The funny thing about moving Marcus" is that the former Georgia standout controlled his assigned gaps, Del Rio said.

"We've just got to play better around him," the coach added.

Del Rio wouldn't single out the players who didn't play well around Stroud.

Del Rio also said Stroud wasn't unhappy when he came out for pregame warm-ups in a T-shirt and shorts. He said Stroud was ill late last week.

"It was a misunderstanding. He had some stomach problems. The player was actually excited about it [playing end]," Del Rio said.

Brady to return

Tight end Kyle Brady, who missed the first five games with a finger injury and a staph infection, is practicing this week and will return to the lineup against Kansas City. But he probably won't play the entire game because of his long layoff.

Luckily, I have tickets so it's a moot point. The last Chiefs game down here was blacked out, too.
