Sandbox football is gearing up - room for new owners.

Hi all,

For those of you who haven't participated, our Sandbox Simulations football game had a good initial test, and we're gearing up for Season Two now. We have some openings for new team owners, and the current leagues will be free forever since we're still beta testing.

The league works like this:

1. You get a team. Since we're in Season Two, you will be hired to run an existing team as coach/owner.
2. The teams currently have their end of year rosters from 2011, so you'll be able to do a fair bit of rebuilding. We'll hold the 2012 rookie draft and a veteran free agent acquisition, and then we'll conduct a season. You'll build a full 53-man roster.
3. The seasons are just like NFL football. You'll develop a general offensive and defensive philosophy and game plan for your team, and you'll deal with lineup shuffles as players get injured. Each week you'll get a play by play to see how your team fared.
4. The season is played on an accelerated basis so we should be done with it before the real NFL training camp starts. At that point we'll hold a 2013 rookie draft, and you'll be able to pick up veteran free agents over the course of the real NFL season.
5. Repeat as desired.

It's quite fun, actually, and the game engine works superbly. It's quite enjoyable to pull up the play by play and watch the game unfold, and to grumble as you have to shuffle lineups when injuries occur.

We'll be going commercial with the game at some point soon, but the two beta leagues will always be free. You'll be like George Halas with the Bears - at some point these franchises will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.*

So if you're interested, let me know here and I'll assign you to a team. As with the real NFL, you don't have control over the team you inherit, so your challenge may be maintaining a powerhouse or more likely rebuilding a team that was managed poorly - you know, like the Chiefs.

Those who want to play need to:

1. Post in this thread and we'll confirm whether a team is currently available.
2. Register on http://sandboxsimulations.com using the access code: 6Lanier3
3. Follow the registration procedure until you get to the screen where you select your team name. STOP HERE WITHOUT PICKING A TEAM NAME.
4. Once Rain Man assigns you a team, and you have completed through step 3, PM cdcox or post in this thread and cdcox will connect the existing team with your user account.

Jak2786 would be me. The Independence Jokers were the team that Rain Man assigned to me.

Sorry. Given the last activity date, your team was reassigned to EagleRob. You're welcome to approach him about a trade, but your new team is now the ... Wichita Shox in League 2! Wichita went 5-11 last year but has plenty of stars to thrill the Wichita fanbase, particularly in the passing game.

Based on the last activity date, we will award you the Kansas City Ball Busters in League 1. They went 7-9 last year despite having perhaps the deepest QB and TE positions in the league. Under your guidance, perhaps they can turn the corner.

For those getting teams from this point on, I'll ask you to keep an open mind if someone approaches you in the next couple of days and asks you to trade teams because you have their original team. But it'll be your call and it's your team.

Mrroandro, your team is ... the Chula Vista Cripplas! A League 1 team, Chula Vista went 6-10 last year, and their strength appears to be on the lines, along with a deep WR corps.

Build from the inside and work your way out. I like it.

I have an excellent team for you, the Kansas City Fubars of League 2. They had a rough year last year at 4-12, but quarterback David Garrard thinks he can take the team to new heights this year. Oh, and you might want to draft a quarterback.

The good news is that your running back, Jamaal Charles, is returning from his injury this season. He should be a great complement to Garrard.
