If you list the top 100 revenue producing football and basketball programs together, KU BB isn't in the top 100. Not surprisingly, KU fans are trying to focus on basketball only despite the fact that a top 20 revenue producing basketball program is the equivalent of a shitty football program in terms of revenue.

Completely false, the link showed proft not revenue. do you know the difference because apparently you are confused. besides, there are not nearly 100 football programs that generate more revenue than KU hoops. Also, KU ranked 10th in total athletic revenues in 2008 the year they won it all, and normally ranks around 30 and that's not possible if your point was close to being correct

Kansas basketball is the 73rd most profitable program, and their football ranks 116th.

If you want revenue, football ranks 59th, and basketball ranks 67th.

Just did a little research. UNC has the highest athletic budget in the ACC for FY 2012. (Information for the for private schools isn't public record, but it's safe to assume that Duke, Wake, BC, and Miami wouldn't be close.)

Of the eight public universities, FSU ranks sixth, and NC State is set to pass them in the next year or two based on the current trends of both schools. North Carolina currently has a budget 25% higher than FSU.

my link lists revenue, expense, and profit in 3 columns.

And KU still isn't listed. Don't know why, not my list, but it is based on legal reports filed with the DOEd.

You will have to explain to me how your link gets 32m out of the two sports when their overall revenue is $72m. Probably because that data is incomplete (it does not include the $20m that hoops generates from the PSL or donation program)


When you add that to the $17m in regular revenue, you get a massive number which provides Forbes the basis of their huge profit number for KU basketball. It's a massive money machine with virtually no expenses and that is why KU has generated $100m more than Mizzou past 5 -6 years. That's not a typo-that's straight from those same DOE reports.

The B12 doesn't have the clout to make those demands. They have less teams and don't have a conference championship game. There's no way in hell that the SEC will agree to any playoff that only allows conf. champs in when SEC teams 2-4 or more are often better than all the other conference champions.
