LNBS: Can we trade Chase Daniel?

I honestly think we will trade him this offseason.

This draft is weak at QB IMO and lots of teams have needs at quarterback, while Chase has shown the ability to lead a team to wins (I still view the 2013 finale as a win because the refs screwed up)

Mariotta has red flags for being a system guy that hasn't had to really throw into tight windows (his receivers were always wide open) and hasn't had to run a pro style set. Others have said he is a one read guy who looks to run too fast (not sure I agree with that)

Winston showed major red flags after his last game and while he is a gamer and has a lot of experience in a pro style offense, there are concerns that his immaturity will lead to a guy with early success but might not have the drive it takes to develop all of his skills and he might really embarrass your team if you draft him and constantly have to clean up after him.

Hundley? I once saw him as a guy that might move this year into the top spot, but he didn't really impress.

It's also a weak free agent class of QBs (even with Cutler possibly hitting free agency)

Andy has a history of trading quarterbacks for picks and it would be amazing if he can get us a third for Daniel while saving us nearly 4 million in cap space while he's at it.

Honestly, the more I look into this QB class, I think it's not only possible but probable that they move Chase...I think a third is possible...or maybe a conditional pick dependent on playing time and production.

Texans
Bills
Rams
Bears
Jets
Jags
Titans
Bucs

That's a lot of QB needy teams without a lot of options out there.

Todd Collins was a ****ing pro.

Chase Daniel is fat and eats his own boogers.

Get. The. ****. Out.
Locker - injury prone, hasn't played a full season.

Sanchez - will probably resign started a 2nd career in Philly and also injury prone.

Campbell - Cincinnati backup not going to get any offers. Couldn't do anything with starting opportunities in Oakland and Cleveland. At 33 yo probably done.

Flynn - GBP backup not going anywhere. The league is onto him, he hasn't been successful anywhere else. Was released by Oakland in favor of Terrell ****ing Pryor and Matt Mcgloin. Yeah....you GTFOH

Hill - Rams backup at the end of his career (35 yo) - also not going anywhere.

Hoyer- Browns want him back, he wants to compete for starting job in Cleveland

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-starting-job/

Matt Moore - reminds me of Damon Huard. Hasn't done much to help or hurt himself. Probably the 2ND best bet on this list Behind Hoyer.

When we traded for Smith, where was he on the 49ers depth chart?

Unfortunately, I don't think the Chiefs would gain much by trading Daniel to themselves.

Yeah, I think it's fair to say no team gives a shit about Chase Daniel except for Kansas City.

Teams know that Andy Reid makes backup QBs look far better than they actually are.

With Nick Foles possibly out there, teams just aren't going to PAY draft picks to get ****ed in the ass by Chase Daniel for a season or two until a better option comes along.

http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2...m_nfl_coa.html

Quote:
The Eagles apparent indecision on what to do with quarterback Nick Foles has intrigued teams around the league, and possible suitors are beginning to emerge.

According to a person familiar with the situation, but who requested anonymity, the St. Louis Rams have interest in Foles should the Eagles decide to trade him this offseason.

Foles' possible availability was a topic of conversation among coaches and scouts last week at the Senior Bowl, with the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans also mentioned as teams that would have interest if Foles hit the market.

It is unclear if the Eagles are willing to move Foles. Their plans to explore options surrounding Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota — as reported by NJ Advance Media — in the NFL draft certainly indicate a weakened commitment to Foles.

The Rams, who own the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, are in need of a quarterback after Sam Bradford missed all of last season with a knee injury. Bouncing between backups Austin Davis and Shaun Hill led to another losing season and last-place finish in the NFC West.

Although he regressed last season, Foles still has a career completion percentage of 61.6, and he has thrown 46 touchdowns and only 17 interceptions in the past three seasons. Foles, the Eagles' starter until he injured his shoulder, missed the final eight games of the season as the team missed the playoffs.

Foles is coveted around the league.

"Love him," one NFL coach said of Foles. "Right now I would put him in the second or third tier of quarterbacks, but I think he is right on the cusp of being in the top tier at the position."

Coming off 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions in 2013, Foles finished with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight games last season before fracturing his collarbone, an injury that would cost him the remainder of the season.

"A dropoff was expected," said an NFC scout. "I wouldn't be too concerned if I was Chip (Kelly). I think he'll be fine."

Foles inability to escape pressure was highlighted last season as the offensive line suffered through a season of injuries and poor play. The dropoff in the offensive line play from 2013 to 2014 left Foles running for his life at times, which proved to be a problem, especially when he got into the open field.

"He is a statue back there," the NFC scout said. "Guys like him, I don't worry, because I know where he is going to be."

True.

There has to be another organization out there that is desperate enough to chase after fool's gold with a draft pick or two. Booger is certainly nothing special and I can't see the appeal, but Reid and Dorsey had a thing for him. And they've yet to be wrong about a QB, so hopefully some other front office sees their very own Smith clone and does something dumb.

If anyone saw something in Daniel, besides the Chiefs that is, the Saints would have gotten a return on him.

The Saints let Daniel walk in FA because "They wanted him to have his shot at starting." So where does he end up? In KC, backing up Alex Smith, with zero chance of starting. And people think we are getting a 3rd round pick, or any pick at all, for this guy.

But if anyone on this site had suggested that Alex Smith would be picked up by any team at the cost of two-seconds in the 2012 offseason; they'd have been just as easily dismissed as someone saying Booger was worth a 4th or some shit to some awful franchise.

Damn that Whitehurst for playing for the Titans!
Exactly the point Daniel won with less (especially at WR) than Whitehurst had And Whitehurst still lost with all that talent.

2014 Titans WR Corps: 9 Touchdowns
2014 Chiefs WR Corps: 0 Touchdowns

That isn't a QB problem either.
