Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Own it or shot it, hate it or love it? Looking into home defense shotgun and narrowed it down to these. Leaning to the 590 but haven't made up my mind yet. Also, is the pistol grip worth a try? Gotta be uncomfortable as hell to shoot, never shot one. Narrows down the length quite a bit but i imagine it takes some getting used to.

I've had one for several years. Very dependable guns. Still have mine and shoots like a champ. If your're wanting one for the gf or wife just make sure whatever you get is light.

Had one as a bird gun, 12g pump. Loved it.

Wonder if they make a plug for the 7+ shot capacity guns if you want to buy a barrel for field use too.

I'd probably lean towards the Remington 870 Express, and skip any pistol grips. I used to have a 870 Wingmaster in 12 and 20 guage, and they were solid shotguns. The Wingmasters were made for hunting, but can easily be set up for defense. I'd shop around and see if you can find an 870 Police. But the Express model will work just fine.

And the Mossberg 590 is a solid gun, too. But I'd upgrade to a 590A1 if possible. They make about a dozen different versions of varying barrel length and magazine capacity. Also, Mossberg sells the 500 model in a field/security combo, meaning you can get one that comes with a "field" barrel for hunting, and a "security" barrel for home defense.

If you're choosing between the Remington and the Mossberg, the biggest difference will be the location of the safety. For the Remmy, its on the trigger guard. And on the Mossy, its up by the thumb, which will make it easier for a lefty to access. If you or your wife/gf are a lefty, I'd go with the Mossy. Otherwise, just go to the store and fondle both of them and see which one you like best.

thanks for the input man.

I'm searching google now for the police 870. Be nice to find one in the wood stock instead of synthetic. Guess i'm old school in that way!

Might even look for a police trade in on buds guns site or others. Bet those are beat up pretty good though.

If you happen to live near Olathe, Kansas....

I've never been in the store, but I've heard good things about it. Not sure if they have any in stock, so you'd probably have to order one.

I absolutely love my pistol grip shotty. I like the shorter length of it and since I live in a relatively small home, it is easier for me to maneuver around corners and such. That said, YMMV.

Disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the M1 for the first time today.

And I now have a new appreciation for the ease of disassembling, cleaning and reassembling modern weapons.

Holy shit, what a pain in the ass. I was doing this over at my buddy's house, and it cured him of wanting to get one.
