Denver mayor, Broncos pursue 2018 Super Bowl bid

While it'd be fun to be in a Super Bowl city personally, it'd be very sad to see them pull this off where KC never has.

Denver mayor, Broncos pursue 2018 Super Bowl bid
POSTED: 11/28/2012 06:01:52 PM MST
UPDATED: 11/28/2012 06:39:48 PM MSTBy Jeremy P. Meyer
The Denver Post

One goal that NFL fanatic Denver Mayor Michael Hancock has for his city is to one day bring a Super Bowl to the Mile High City, and steps are being made to do just that.

The Denver Broncos and Visit Denver in late August submitted an application to the National Football League's Super Bowl Advisory Committee to bid to host the Super Bowl in 2018, 2019 or 2020.

"We will pursue it along with Visit Denver," Hancock said in a meeting with The Denver Post editorial board on Wednesday. "I think Denver would be head and shoulders above any other city to compete to host a Super Bowl."

This trend to give games to cold weather cities without a dome will come to an end when people can't get to the game because of a blizzard.

I don't know since I have only been to a few, but I would guess the correct answer would be wherever the Raiders play.

Right now, I think the worst is in San Diego. They get in the rotation for Super Bowls because the city and weather are beautiful. But the stadium was a dump, comparatively speaking, before all the new stadiums started getting built. Now, it's unconscionable that they charge their fans market value to watch games there.

It's a good thing they have such a rabid fan base. Otherwise, their streak of consecutive sell-outs would be at zero.

Oh, wait.

I think it has a chance. Most people have a vision of Denver that's equivalent to it being one big Vale, CO. Sadly, it's not until you get there that you see it's flatter than smooth glass, the mountains are a drive away (but not impossible by any means), has a tent for an airport, and has a city that's more like a run-down factory district, and something modern. But perception is everything...

He's the problem, their owners not a total F'n joke like ours. He's not stupid, and the rest of the owner community doesn't generally point at him and laugh like they do the Hunts (and tell them to go make the coffee). That's for good reason the Hunts 100% suck balls, and they are, simply said, stupid people! So I think their owner will make a case, it'll be accurate, and he'll sell it. They might just get it! They're riding the Manning wave, so it's all the more probable. And unlike us, they do the right things in the right years. They don't wait until a year after a good QB draft is done to go looking for one; they get one at the right time. And.....they get a call back from the good QBs in FA, not a "no thanks."

Clark Hunt was one of the leaders negotiating all the way through the lockout last year. I don't know where you get this idea. The dude was literally standing right next to Goodell when he announced the lockout was over.

I'm sure he was handing him coffee or something... Say what you want, but he's not respected for anything other than providing other teams an almost guaranteed/easy win each year. I'm pretty sure Kraft doesn't see him as an equal (but he might take two "Equals" in his coffee). He's in the club, his daddy made sure of that, but he's not as equal as the others. And his team sucks, the team he built (he's the captain of the ship, right?), keeps him from being respected amongst his peers. He's a silver-spoon trust-fund baby, nothing more.. LOL, doomed to success!
