Man I sure wish we had Russell Wilson

Yeah hindsight is 20/20 and admittedly I didn't know much about Wilson at draft time, but then again I'm not paid to scout and draft players for a team that desperately needs a QB. Oh well I guess at least we got Donald Stephenson from OU.........yay.....

But you're right, whenever I talk to someone outside of here they suggest trading for Smith, Kaepernick, Tebow (lol), etc. It's like the idea of for once having a QB that Kansas City can call their own is long gone.
The standards just change, that's all.

Geno Smith is no more a risky QB prospect than Matt Stafford was. People forget how shitty Stafford could be against tough defenses in college. Threw picks. Lots of them. Forced shit all the goddamn time.

Yet in 2009 the tune was, "If only we had a better QB than Sanchez available! I would gladly have taken Stafford at #3!" Just like the year before it was, "No good QBs available. Matt Ryan sucks, and I'm glad Atlanta took him so we didn't have to. Dorsey is much better."

Now it's escalated to the point that fans are passing on Matt Staffords with the reason that he isn't Andrew Luck. "If only a good QB were available."

Good QBs are available every year. Just pick a ****ing guy. It's not a big ****ing deal if the guy busts. For ****'s sake.

stop being a delusional homer

Stafford and Ryan were 10x better prospects coming out than turds like Geno Smith and Matt Barkley

they just dont stand out. They are good, I dont care what QB the Chiefs take in the 1st round as long as they take one. I dont care if they even reach for a QB that isnt Geno. As long as they draft one. That doesnt mean I think any of them are going to save this franchise or culture right out of the gate in year 1, because they are not. Or year 2. Or year 3 for that matter.

If you ask me Matt Ryan was a very similar prospect compared to Tyler Wilson...so I don't agree with that at all.

And the 08 QB class was garbage too. Joe Flacco was a nobody before his last year and a late riser...kind of like Glennon or Geno.

The third QB off the board was Brian Brohm.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, other than that's exactly what Matt Stafford did, essentially. Took an 0-16 team and made them a 2-14 team in his rookie year. Which would kind of support my argument if Geno got us two more wins than this year.

Remember, I said, "Geno Smith is no more risky a QB prospect than Matt Stafford was." I'm not in the business of comparing or saying one's better than the other. I'm talking strictly about both guys coming out of college, which is the only thing we can judge at this point.

This is at least a 7-win team next season with good QB play.

Even against what figures to be a tough schedule.

If we maintain the status quo we'll be drafting top 5 again. And that includes signing some veteran slapdick like Alex Smith.

The fact that Russell Wilson and RGIII are doing so well along with other rookie QBs should make us want Geno Smith even more.

They show you can play rookie QB and find success early in their career and not have to sit on the bench to ride the pine as so many think is best for them.

Geno Smith is not RGIII nore do I want him to be. I want him to make his own success and be Geno Smith that others are jelly of ~ as a Kansas City Chief.

The biggest knock I can see of Geno Smith is well his defense sucks. They give up points that Geno Smith has to match on a consistent basis and he has done just that.

I don't give a **** about RGIII, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson. I give a **** about the Chiefs picking a guy that could have success on our own merit. Geno Smith could be that guy but we are to stupid to find out. HOLY SHIT BALLS.

Not only that, if we address other spots, which are dire needs, I think it could be a 7-9 win team, going forward even better.

Looking at the FA class, there are some potential upgrades there if we were to look at making a splash ( I know doubtful).

Byrd would be a great add at FS if he made it that far. Grimes will be coming off an injury, but he'd be a guy to take a flyer on, IMO.

If we do this correctly, this will be a pretty ****ing short rebuild.

It's going to require competent hires at the GM and HC spots, and the drafting of Geno Smith. After that, we rely on our GM to get us good drafts. That's all we need to do to get this franchise winning playoff games.

Draft well each year. Enough of these boneheaded WTF picks in the middle rounds like Donald Stephenson and Alex Magee. Get your stars in the top rounds, and make smart picks in the middle rounds. Busts will happen. But we gotta start shooting for at least a 40% success rate each year. Get 2-3 players who can contribute to the team year in and year out. Pioli has barely managed to land 3 players like that in FOUR ****ing years of drafting for this team.

We really won't need to do this massive scramble for talent and quality starters. We only have a few holes here and there in our starting lineup. The problem is the holes that we have are ****ing enormous craters. Like at say.... QB. The other spots are ILB, at least 2 DL spots, CB, and TE.

Matt Ryan threw 19 freaking picks his senior season.

If Geno did that he'd probably be a low 2nd round pick in the eyes of many.
