T.O. fined $9500 by Cowboys

Guy is nails when hes on the field, but is he truly worth the headaches????

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Terrell Owens has finally pushed the Dallas Cowboys too far, drawing a $9,500 fine for missing a team meeting and a rehabilitation session and being late to an offensive meeting, The Dallas Morning News reported Sunday.

"That's our club business. That's going to be accounted for," team owner Jerry Jones told the newspaper.

The incidents occurred Friday, the team's final day preparing for a preseason game against San Francisco. The Cowboys beat the 49ers 17-7, making them 3-0 this preseason without Owens playing any of the games because of a hamstring injury that's also kept him out of 19 of 31 practices since the start of training camp.

Neither team officials nor Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, immediately returned calls to The Associated Press seeking comment Sunday.

During a postgame television interview, Jones did not mention the fine but answered several other questions about Owens. Jones said his only concern with the receiver is "injury, not all this other stuff you hear about."

Owens' past is filled with run-ins with quarterbacks, coaches and others in his own organization. San Francisco and Philadelphia got rid of him, but the Cowboys welcomed him with open arms and a lucrative contract in March, four days after the Eagles released him.

Owens vowed to be a better man and a better teammate in Dallas. While the fine is the most drastic, he already has done plenty to stand out.

He missed much of the offseason training program -- with permission -- and turned his hamstring injury into an attention-getter by flying in specialists to help him rehabilitate and wearing a cycling team outfit one day while pedaling a stationary bicycle.

After returning to practice for several days, coach Bill Parcells ruled him out of a Monday night game and Owens hasn't practiced since. He said he aggravated the injury because the club pushed him too hard. When Parcells said this week that he needs to see Owens on the field, T.O. responded that there's 10 years of tape to show what he can do.

Jones seemed to downplay the drama surrounding Owens' injury by noting that Carolina's Steve Smith and Pittsburgh's Hines Ward also have been slowed by hamstring injuries without drawing the same scrutiny as Owens. He also recalled Deion Sanders' ability to play well after flying in from baseball games and missing long stretches of practice.

"I know this -- when he's healthy, he's going to help us win these ballgames," Jones said.

The Cowboys play their final preseason game Thursday night at home against Minnesota. The opener is Sept. 10 at Jacksonville.

Steve Smith and Hines Ward aren't in cycling uniforms on the sideline holding interviews from a stationary bike, Jones you ****ing tard. Maybe that's the reason they're not drawing "scrutiny". And even mentioning Ward's name in the same sentence with Owens is an injustice to the kind of player Hines is.

Don't act like you didn't know this was going to happen.

Me too. I was worried they might actually make a run before it turned into a train wreck, the fact that it's happening before the season even starts is friggin' hilarious.

That's partially the media, Owens could blow his nose wrong and it would be covered for 15 minutes on sportscenter that's media sensationalizm not Owens. I'm sure some of this stuff is true but if you want a barometer, when everything went down in Philly no Eagles came to McNabbs defense....

Owens is still a great player, by the way Owens has HOF stats and Ward doesn't so mentioning their names together I don't exactly see as an issue. I do get a serious kick though out of football announcers who act like Owens is the worst guy in the world. In the world of football it's ok to get arrested, smack your wife around and all that but if you say what you think you are apparently a bad guy.

Why is the media following Owens like a pack of dogs? Because of his past actions and words. I hate the constant TO attention but you can tell me it wasn't his doing or that he doesn't relish every second his mug is on ESPN.

Dallas is a team they cover alot anyway due to the amount of fans they have Owens is a player they like to cover due to him saying what he thinks. Put them together and you get major coverage of it.

I still have yet to see Owens really do anything that should get him labled the way he's been labled. People act like he's the worst guy to have around, like he's some convicted felon or something.

Owens has never been arrested, he gives money to charities.....He's not soft on the field he doesn't dog plays he plays hard every single down. In the quasi world of sports it's more acceptable to be a part of criminal activity than to be like Owens..........it's sad but true.

Yes, T.O. never been arrested and he does all the nice things off the field. Whoopie f**king do.

The problem with T.O. is this "me, me, me" attitude he's been doing for years. Last time I checked, there is no "I" on team. Parcells won't put up with that shit. I know I wouldn't.

What T.O. needs to learn is to shut the f**k up, and grow the f**k up. He's acting like a god-damned 8 year old kid with a temper tantrum.

And the way the Cowboys WR's so far without T.O., and the way his luck is going, if T.O. won a pussy in a raffle, it would already have a damn c*ck in it!

Because most WR's don't act like Owens right....Aslong as he produces the way he has for his career I have no problem with him wanting the ball. The guy has HOF caliber stats it's not like he's not producing on the field.

I disagree that he's a HOF. More of like Idiot of Fame.

Problem for him is he isn't Hines Ward. Ward had a contract that he wasn't happy yet he went on his business, and not attracting huge media, which I respected that. Ward at the time was underpaid for his production, and he did deserve of a better contract. And Ward is best as what he does. Owens isn't even close.

How many teams Ward played for? Just 1. Owens? 3 different teams, and 2 of the franchise he single-handly destroyed it, and they traded/cut him lose.

And we mustn't forget how big of a baby he was for the fact that he didn't want to play for Baltimore.

And Ward has a SB ring, where Owens does not.

Owens can go f**k himself and the horse he rode on.

You think Ward is better than Owens.......

Here's Ward...
127 108 574 7030 12.2 85 52 92 13 357

Here's Owens....
142 128 716 10535 14.7 91 101 158 40 493

Owen's stats dwarf Wards in every way imaginable. Just because you don't personally like him doesn't mean he isn't good. Owens will finish his career likely in the top 5 of nearly every recieving stat.

No shit. Neither Ward or Smith have the history of Owens. Those guys aren't meltdowns waiting to happen.

I really love this. Up until now, it was Owens word against the team regarding a hamstring injury that really can't be proven by either side. But now he's skipping meetings, showing up late, and skipping rehab. Things that give the team solid ground to stand on when they drop the hammer.

I look forward to act three of the Terrell Owens Meltdown Circus, and I can't think of two people more deserving than the uber-arrogant duo of Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells.
