Roy, Are there still some strong feelings for Kansas?

Question to Roy from this article: http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/742213.htmlAre there still some strong feelings for Kansas?
"I gave some school, some basketball programs, some state, whatever you want to call it, and especially the players, 15 years of my heart, body and soul. So I'm never going to lose that. Some of the greatest memories in my life were at Kansas. I'm never going to lose that. I'm never going to lose their appreciation for basketball, their passion for basketball.

"I'll always appreciate that and love that. Each and every year it gets different because the players that I left there are gone. We recruited Jeremy, but everybody else is gone. And we knew Darnell, he used to come up to games. We knew Darrell used to come up for games. But this is Bill's team. This is the University of Kansas's team without Roy Williams.

"I can put it to you this way: In my summer camp we have a lot of little kids running around and they're instructed on the first day they can wear North Carolina stuff or they can wear Kansas stuff, but they can't wear anybody else's stuff.

"And that's the way I'm always going to be. I'm going to be always be a huge Kansas fan. There were some things said or done that hurt at first, but time has a way of healing things and I am hopeful it will heal with some people that still may have some bad feelings.

"But the good news is it's a wonderful Kansas team playing a wonderful North Carolina team on college basketball's biggest stage. And I wish it would be Monday night as opposed to Saturday."

I think I hate UNC a little bit less after reading that. He lets the little kids wear UNC and Kansas gear... that is cool.

Dude, I got over it a long time ago. I forgive Roy. Still doesn't mean I root for UNC, though.

Now Dean Smith, OTOH, can go to Hell!!!

Roy has his time... He chose to move on, so have I and most intelligent Jayhawk fans. There are a few that wont let go, because they have small penis syndrome...

This is Selfs program now and I am enjoying it just as much if not more than the Roy Era... Roy would win alot of games, get us to FF's etc. But there was alwasy a sense of vaganitis about his teams... Same for UNC.. I see alot of KU fashbacks watching UNC... It is pretty scarey at times.

Thank You Coach Self, I enjoy watching you mold this program into a tough never give up team. Looking forward for the next 25 years of you coaching at KU...

Bottom line is Roy can lick my hairy beanbag. Bill Self recruited players that Roy could never get (Rush, Collins, etc) so I, too, am happier with Self at the helm.

I'll take Paul Pierce over anyone else on this KU team. I'll take a Collison, Gooden, LaFrentz over a Jackson, Kaun, Arthur too.

That's a nice article. I've always admired Roy, but Self is the man at the helm now and I appreciate Self and what he has done for the program as well. Godspeed Self.

Based on Roy's comments, I bet when he's got some alone time at the house, he's dancing around wearing one of these.

No doubt this team has a higher number of talented, athletic players. But to suggest that Roy couldn't recruit elite players is ridiculous. I don't see any of the guys on this KU team having a better pro career than Paul Pierce has had. This team is much deeper than any of Roy's, has legit ballers at every position and, ultimately, may be better than any of Roy's teams. You were talking about individual players, however, and IMO, Roy had some outstanding individual players. The main difference is a Ryan Robertson, Jarrod Haase, Eric Chenowith, Christian Moody, etc. wouldn't see time with this squad.

He was a great coach for Kansas, and I wish the circumstances were different before he's left. Roy pushed for hiring/firing decisions to come after the tourney was over, and with the dumbshit NC AD firing Dougherty before the tourney was over, all kinds of speculation created a distracting environment right before KU's game against Syracuse. Would it have made a difference if they'd waited? We'll never know, but to this day, I blame Dean, not Roy. It could've waited a week or two...

In the interview, Roy said something to the effect that people always come up to him in the airport and say "Rock chalk Jayhawk..." and he said he always responds with "Go KU."

Seriously???
