****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Yes, it would have been nice to have one less of those long ass scoring passes they had but man the offense did some good things for us. Being on the other end of that game would have been maddening if you even got our receivers covered Franklin would just slip out and find a way to move the chains.

It feels like this offense is building into something really good. If Franklin protects the ball and stops rolling out of perfectly good pockets right into the pressure, we might be onto something.

I could see Missouri winning 2 out of Georgia, Florida, SC.

Really? I think we will be lucky to win any of those,. I know that people think Florida is not great and just lost their QB but our Oline is most likely going to he manhandled by their Dline. Personally, I doubt we score more than two touchdowns against that D. Georgia and SC outclass us at nearly every position. I would love two wins but I will take one and consider that lucky.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Quarterback James Franklin said he couldn’t imagine the frustration that fellow senior Andrew Wilson felt during the first half of Missouri’s 45-28 victory Saturday at Indiana.

Wilson was suspended until halftime after being ejected for a targeting penalty during the Sept. 7 win against Toledo when he delivered an accidental forearm to the Bernard Reedy’s head on a pass over the middle.
Before the Tigers took on the Hoosiers, Wilson was permitted to warm up with the team, but by the coin toss he had been sequestered in the visiting locker room.
"I re-showered and just chilled for the first quarter," said Wilson, a Raymore-Peculiar graduate and one of Missouri’s four permanent captains.
Sounds easy enough, but the truth is that it was far from easy for Wilson to watch his teammates battle Indiana on a blurry TV in the bowels of Memorial Stadium.
"It was actually really, really blurry," Wilson said. "I couldn’t even really see the numbers, but I was keenly watching it. … Luckily, it was good or I might have broken the TV."
Don Barnes, who is the director of the Tigers’ equipment room and watched the first half from the locker room with Wilson, probably wouldn’t have let that happen.
"Toward the end of the first quarter, (Barnes) started getting me ready to go and I kind of warmed up a little," Wilson said.
That’s when the adrenaline kicked in.
"I was calm for the first quarter, but once I started getting ready to go I really started champing at the bit and wanted to get out there," Wilson said.
Upon Wilson’s return, he made three tackles, including a key third-down stop against Hoosiers quarterback Tre Roberson for a 1-yard loss.
"He’s a really good leader on the defensive side of the ball and he does a really good flying to it and making some big hits," Franklin said. "We always joke around and call him ‘The Waterboy’ and things like that, but he’s a playmaker and it was good to have him back out there in the second half. I noticed a difference when he was out there."
Indiana only managed 23 yards in the third quarter on 15 plays after Wilson’s return and a switch from a 4-2-5 look to the "30" defense.
Asked which was more important, Wilson’s return or the change in scheme, cornerback and captain E.J. Gaines made no bones: "I would say our captain coming back, Wilson. We knew he was coming back in the second half and it was like the start of a whole new game when he came back."

For the second time in three weeks, Missouri had a player chosen as the Southeastern Conference’s defensive lineman of the week.

Kony Ealy, a junior defensive end, won the honor Monday for his performance in the Tigers’ 45-28 victory two days earlier against Indiana at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind.
Ealy had a tide-turning 49-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
The Hoosiers trailed 21-14 at the time, but after Ealy pawed a Nate Sudfeld pass out of the air and dashed to the end zone, Missouri’s lead was restored to two touchdowns and the game turned into a rout.
Ealy finished with two pass breakups and added a solo tackle in the win, helping the Tigers tame an Indiana offense that entered play averaging 50 point per game.
Through three games, Ealy has five pass breakups, which ranks in the 30 nationally and is tied for first among all defensive linemen.
Two weeks earlier, Markus Golden won the SEC’s weekly award for defensive linemen when he picked off Toledo quarterback Terrance Owens and returned that interception 70 yards for a score.
With a bye week sandwiched in between, that gives Missouri the SEC defensive line player of the week in back-to-back games.

How is this for a first half from our top 2 WRs (DGB and Lucas)?

17 passes thrown their way...15 completions for 192 yards and a TD. One incompletion (first play of the game) was a miscommunication between DGB and Franklin. The other was overthrown, or it would have been a TD to Lucas.

3 games in, Mizzou has scored in every quarter. We've scored touchdowns in every quarter but one.
