His own defense attorney said he fears for his safety after this. I don't think it's a big deal to suppose he could get attacked at some point. I said it myself after the verdict, he's got some rough times ahead.

the only reason this became such a big deal was when Sanford PD didn't detain GZ at all. Just took his word for it, and let him go home. Had he been detained and a thorough investigation undertaken, this case is totally different.

I simply don't know enough about this case, but I started a thread in DC posing a question I'll ask here as well.

How did the media turn this into a white vs. black issue? A Hispanic guy killed a black kid. I know the last name is associated with white people, but that dude has more Hispanic in him than anything. How has this become a white vs. black issue? I don't get it...

Because the media does whatever the **** they want, and no one ever calls them on it.

CNN, for example, only showed photos of 12 year old TM - trying to spin a web that the kid was young, innocent, etc.

The 17 year old TM that started bashing GZ's head into the sidewalk was built like a man, had tattoos, etc.

Why they were trying to build sympathy, I don't know. Cases need to be tried in a court of law, not in the media.

I'm with all of that. I'm just astounded at the stupidity of people allowing this to turn into a white vs. black issue. I mean, we all know that Blacks and Hispanics are racist toward each other as well. This is a Hispanic vs. Black issue, not white vs. black. At least, it should've been. None of it should matter, really. But this has gone down all wrong, and it's clear as **** to see to the naked eye. Yet, here we are.

That's the thing, its shouldn't be anything but a "human being vs. human being" issue - but people want to play the race card.

As a teacher, the other thing that saddens me is how many people in this country have no basic understanding of the legal system.

Some of the comments I've read on social media are just mind boggling.
