Reaper's Top 10, Nay, Top 25 Albums of 2009.

For years I've posted my 10 favorite albums of the year on this very subforum. 2009 was such a strong year in music that I thought I'd expand my list by 15 entries. Plus, I'll be adding YouTube embeds to a good song (not necessarily representative) from each album. So bear with me as I add each entry. Character limits and all.

That's a cop out to me. Phish plays different setlists every night and I'd put some of their compositions against most anything in terms of complexity.

Frankly, a lot of bands don't have enough material to widely vary setlists from show to show.

That made me break out the google for "most complex Phish song" and I found a pretty cool post about Trey's fugues:
http://dogoneblog.wordpress.com/2009.../phish-fugues/

Has embedded audio of two fugues played live.

Do you ever go to boards where people don't know you and troll? You'd be exceptional.

This one time I guess I was on the royals.com board and I was trolling saying how we should keep miguel olivo It was something like

"Yeah well you don't get a catcher who pops 20 home runs every year, then these guys came in and gave a bunch of stats about how he lets alot of passed balls get past him, and I was like well so did john wathen but we let him manage"

They went on to tell me what a disaster John Wathon was as a manager and I explained that it was probably because all the 1980's Royals were loaded on coke and they got strung out all the time playing on that hot turf. I didn't know Willie Wilson had ever won a batting title. It turns out he won several before moving on too oakland. So we went round and round before people started to get the idea that I was trolling.

Reaper, I was going through my Dad's itune's because he has a crazy-big library...like 25K songs. He has like every musical genre imaginable on there, and I don't even know where the **** he heard of some of these bands or why he has them in his library...but he had some band called Aman Amarth on there..or something close to that.

And I listened to it because it had some metal looking cover art. And that shit is some serious head-banging metal type shit. I'm sure you've heard of them, but it was new to me, and they're pretty intense.

I love it when some dickhole plays some jam-band song in the bar and it lasts like 25 minutes and all the hot chicks leave.

I don't know what song you're talking about specifically; but I pretty much hate it when I'm in a bar and somebody plays a whole bunch of songs that don't fit the crowd at all...and make girls leave.

If I'm in one bar just shooting pool with my friends and there's not that many people around, it's totally cool for me to play whatever I like off of 'Animals'. If I try that shit in a packed college bar full of hot chicks, they sure as hell don't give two shits about Pink Floyd and it WILL make them leave.

The wrong/annoying music can ruin a bar scene fast as hell.

Dave Mathews Band maybe, Mo?

I did a quick google for satellite song and that's the first that came up. And yeah, I ****ing hate DMB.

Yeah, I've been a fan of Amon Amarth for like 9 years. Their live DVD, The Wrath of the Norsemen, is the very best value in all of music DVDs. There are 5 full concerts spread over 3 DVDs, along with some docu footage type stuff. All for $20.
