And to who I think it was Donger. Of course I didn't mean actual Pilgrims, but a lot of the small battles that led to victories in the BIGGER battles, were won by farmers, also known as minute men. Who were essentially Pilgrims in the sense of the word. They definitely weren't trained soldiers.....

I didn't think that you were actually referring to the original Pilgrims. You just seemed to be giving the American army complete credit credit for the British giving up.

In 1945, that would have been a competition between Alamogordo and Hot Springs. The city was renamed Truth or Consequences in 1950.
