He came into the studio and hung out with me for about 20 mins. Dude loves to talk. makes my job easier...

Vivian Campbell is nothing more than an average guitarist, especially for that era. He's never been a songwriter, didn't become a producer and hasnt graduated beyond being a sideman. After Dio's death, he put together a band that only plays Dio songs. Lame.

He's just another guy. And he's fortunate that Jake decided to join Ozzy. Otherwise, no one would even know his name.

? I thought he hated playing the old Dio stuff? He had some great solo's on those records. Rainbow in the Dark being his best IMO. I just always liked his sound. I always like Jake E. Lee.

Mathias Jabs was another very underated guitaris that stepped in- But he didnt just ride along- he put his signature on All the songs. Amazing player.

Yep- I hate to say it- but I didn't like the sound on the whole DVD. Not sure what the problem was? Most of their Live DVD's are great.

If you put Rock in Rio in then Time Machine- the difference is very noticable. Geddy sounds great on that one. His voice is amazing on Clockwork as well-very Soulful on The Garden.

But this tour he really does sound good. And I just can't believe Neil changed his style to a Basher- and is playing his best ever. He splits his solo up- can't really blame him- that bar was set pretty high.

Rob Halford cut his hair.

IMO, most bands go downhill at some point. I was a big Judas Priest fan back in the day, but I think they went downhill as soon as Halford left the band. Iron Maiden, less so, but even they had some down years. Scorpions haven't exactly torn the place up the last 20 years. Oh, and Klaus Meine and Rudy Schenker cut their hair.

To Rush's credit, they've been able to keep things going. Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson both cut their hair though.

I know that is why I was suprised he would revisit that era? I might be mistaken but didn't RJD write ALL the lyrics and also the basic Melodies on those songs?

How could he get away with it? I am surprised Wendy Dio didn't sue his ass off. I am pretty sure she owns the music now?
