Same story here. I went to college in Warrensburg back when it was CMSU. I entered college as an avid Royals fan who also rooted for the Cardinals. By the time I graduated I hated the ****ing Cardinals.

You can only take so much arrogance and people constantly ripping your team before you start to root against their team.

It's funny how similar all these stories are...

I grew up in west-central Missouri, and the Royals were always my first love, but I liked the Cardinals until I got to Mizzou and spent 4 years with douchebag Cardinals fans. I actually still respect the hell out of the organization, the way it is run, and the product that's on the field. I just despise a lot of the fans who root for it (Like Amy from the tweet below, who can DIAF).

There are a lot of good ones - and I think this message board has mostly excellent Cardinals fan who are passionate about baseball, understand the game, and aren't douches to other fans - but because of their success, there are a lot of douchebags, too (Just like with any successful program).

If I met that Amy chick in real life and she started saying that crap to me, my simple response would be, "How do you think the best fans on earth would do after 28 years of no playoff appearances and several 100 loss seasons?"

Not all Cardinal fans are bad, but that whole "best fans in baseball" is just plain stupid.

I've told this story before, but I grew up a Royals AND Cards fan, because my dad is a lifelong Cards fan. I celebrated when they won the 82 World Series.

I was in college at Mizzou in 85 and when both teams made the WS, I thought, Great, I can't lose! Royals were 1a and Cards were 1b. However, most of the Cards fans at school treated me and other Royals fans like crap. They went out of their way to come up to you and tell you how the Royals were podunk, sucked and that the Cards were going to kick our ass.

That pretty much killed my Cards fanhood. I'm happy for my Dad when the Cards win the pennant, but I take no joy in it anymore, haven't for 29 years.

I appreciate baseball as a sport more because of the time I spent forced to watch Cards baseball here in Springfield. I'm one of two Royals fans in my circle of friends, and for the most part, my friends don't give me an inordinate amount of shit.

That being said, I posted on Twitter about the Blue Crew taking the series and ending the streak and got a response from a friend who said something about how that was the Royals' world series these last few days. I simply linked him the Terio "Ooh Killem" remix because I didn't feel like starting shit about how St. Louis fans are the best fans in baseball.

Born in '85 here, so no real issue with the Cards or their fans.

Except the ones who are also Mizzou fans.
