Iron Maiden Coming to KC on 9-7-13

Quote:
IRON MAIDEN will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil, on 22 September, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours

These will begin with a first-ever visit to Raleigh, NC, for the opening show on September 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion followed by taking Metal back to country music capital Nashville, TN where Maiden haven't played in over twenty years, at the Bridgestone Arena on September 5th. There will also be shows in Kansas City, MO, Sprint Center on September 7th, St Louis, MO, Verizon Wireless on September 8th and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on September 12th , all of which Maiden last visited way back in 2000 on the Brave New World Tour. Plus a return to Austin, TX for a show at the 360 Amphitheater on September 10th, the first time the band have played in that city since the original Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour twenty-five years ago!

Very special guests on all these dates will be MEGADETH.

Before they finally head south towards Brazil, Maiden will also headline a very special event at the San Manuel Amphitheater, San Bernardino, CA. The Battle Of San Bernardino will take place on Friday 13th September. Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton will join tour special guests Megadeth for this performance only, making for a big, loud and exciting day out for Metal fans in Southern California.

Tickets for the Las Vegas and San Bernardino shows go on sale 12 April. Tickets for Raleigh, Nashville, St Louis and Austin go onsale 13 April. Tickets for Kansas City go onsale 17 May. Check local details or www.ironmaiden.com for exact on sale times.

So, who is in on this? I have never seen these guys live, and with the limited times they play in the US, I'm thinking it may be worth ponying up the money to check it out....

Actually, Phil Rudd played behind the beat while the brothers landed somewhere in the middle, if you must know.

And secondly, that band is not something(at least for MY friend anyway)that is taken as life or death. I mean for ****s sake; it's AC/DC.
Knowing John as I do, he'd probably get more kicks out of being in a Mentors tribute band.

That is absolutely untrue.

The drummer "IS" the beat. Angus and Malcolm didn't play ahead of Phil, they played behind him.

Well, that's a GREAT attitude.

Being a "great player" doesn't make for a great band.

You might know less about music than you do football, which, quite frankly, is shocking.

Never said they were a great band. I pretty much think tribute bands are useless in general.

I imagine you know || much.

Why don't you tell us which amp the brothers used on Back in Black? The console it was recorded on? How the snare was mixed and what made it unique?

That's just a few questions for starters.

W/o looking, I believe they were Marshall Majors, the board was a Trident, and the snare, I really couldn't say. Perhaps he pissed on it?

No, no and no.

1979 50 watt two input JMP head, tracked on a Harrison MCI, mixed on a Neve 8078.

The trick with the snare was putting an Eventide 949 detuned 10 cents.

It's not trivia.

I'd like to know what you *think* you know about music and music production because based on your responses over the years, it's less than zero from my POV.

I think I know how to write and definitely know how to play. Production and mixing, outside of tweaking some sounds on the board live and recording some home demos, really wasn't my area of expertise.

What have you written? Where can I or anyone else hear your music?

And producing is at least as important as songwriting.

If I were so inclined to share this with you or the board, I'd have to contact some people and have some files sent. I haven't recorded in a long time, nor did I keep copies.

So, you're not currently writing and producing music and none of what you have recorded in the past isn't commercially available?

Yeah, Dude, you overplayed your hand.

Sweet Daddy: I understand that you have a buddy involved in this. I'd stick up for a buddy in a similar situation...but these guys sounded terrible to me. I had to go listen to some AC/DC on YouTube just to wipe out the memory of their covers. And I'm not even overly fond of AC/DC. What I did notice from watching those guys is that all of instruments worked together in a synergistic wave of kick ass music. It's not some kind of deep music that will change the world but it's driving, energetic and fun to listen to. Bon Scott had a crazy style to his singing. I don't know, maybe he was half baked all the time, but he belted shit out and it rocked. Brian Johnson doesn't sound like that. To me he seems more focused, more tightly wound, when he sings. I think he does justice to the old stuff and I like the job he does. Like I said I'm not overly fond of the band. I do enjoy the music though. This KC/DC sounds just horrible if you listen to anything by AC/DC. It's like they are actively trying to kill the music.
