Even the sports analysts on Boston radio don't get it. Not only are they pitching to Ortiz, they're throwing strikes and he's hitting them. At the LEAST they should be forcing him to go outside the plate to hit something but, honestly, unless they're total idiots they'll walk him every time tonight. Hell, unless it's the bottom of the 9th and tied, I'd walk him with the bases loaded.

The problem for St. Louis is that they suck against lefties. Lester and Doubront have dominated them (a BA around .160 or something?) and IIRC the Cards actually had a losing record vs. lefties this season. So, while I wouldn't be surprised if they force a Game 7, with those two guys available to pitch a few innings tomorrow it doesn't bode well.

I'm not saying it will be easy or even that we will pull it off. But, this team knows how to win with its back to the wall.

I forgot about Game 4 of the Pirates series. At their house. First playoff in the house in 20+ years Wacha shut them down. So it's basically this same team? last calendar year only. I count 5-1 in win or go home games.

The won the 2nd WC by two games. That wasn't a win-or-go-home situation.

Nevertheless, it's disingenuous to list those wins and neglect to mention that they failed to close out Washington in Game 4 and San Francisco three times.
