well, you asked. I've been out of postgraduate school (dental) for 18 years, and I STILL am paying on my loans. I have about 40K and change left. You dont even want to know what I started with.

I got paid to go to school my first year. Then I got a 3.3ish GPA and lost a big scholarship that required a 3.5. My parents had bought me a brand new Firebird with my college fund, so I took out some loans. Ended up with just over $20k in loans when it was all said and done. I graduated in December of 2003 and I have it almost exactly halfway paid off.
Consolidated the loan immediately after graduation and locked the rate at 2.625%, so it's really not that big of a deal. What's crazy is the default loan period is like 30 years. |

For me? Well I still live at home, and for some stupid reason or other I am still considered a dependent. Apparently they raised the age from 23 to 24, or my school was mistaken the first time they told me. So I am not able to get hardly anything, I pay 100% out of pocket.
For her she has tons of scholarships, and gets some pell grant money, but this school is very expensive. It sure will look good on her resume, and it could have been much worse, but it's still a little chunk of change lol. |

Around $26,000 -- I was a fool and never made any payments, towards interest, while in school.
I pay $200 a month towards it right now. Eventually, I'll increase the amount and maybe I'll get it paid off by the time I'm 50.

If she's going to 4yr nursing school, there is no reason she can't get her RN at 2yrs and work while going to school.
