ESPN Playoff Machine: Pick the playoff seedings

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

I tried my best to be rational and thoughtful for every game and came up with an interesting scenario that as far as anybody's guess goes is my most likely outcome:

AFC:
1. New England (12-4)
2. Denver (12-4)
3. Indianapolis (10-6)
4. Cincinnati (9-7)
5. Kansas City (12-4)
6. Miami (9-7)

NFC:
1. New Orleans (12-4)
2. Seattle (12-4)
3. Dallas (10-6)
4. Green Bay (9-6-1)
5. Carolina (11-5)
6. Arizona (10-6)

I'll admit it - I'm rooting for a Baltimore and Miami loss.

I think a SD/CIN game would be entertaining as hell.

I do think it would be cool to have 3 AFCW teams in the playoffs.

I think SD is a dangerous team as well...if we can go into SD and win its a big statement going into playoffs...but is a tall order

Exactly, get rid of the sorry ass divisions...

Just have the AFC and NFC.

Take the top 6 teams each year.

Have your regular season conference champ based on record and then your AFC playoff champion goes to the superbowl...

its not rocket surgery, but if anyone could screw it up, the NFL could.

at least they're not as bad as baseball, who just figured out it was unfair to the NL to have 16 teams in their league and 14 in the AL...while the AL west had 4 teams and the NL central rolled with 6. wtf was up with that?

Unless an 10-6 or 11-5 team misses out while some junk 7-9 team gets in...

Its a seeding issue not a format issue.

I dunno... do away with the rivalries and in a dozen years, you lose a lot of what makes the NFL fun with the divisional rivalries.

In the AFC, things likely will work out with little bitching and moaning in this regard. In the NFC, yeah would suck to be an 11 win team and miss out, but shit happens sometimes.

In 2009, an NFCW team won it at 7-9 and advanced... in 2013, a 10-11 win team might miss out. Things even out over time.

I think a lot has changed and the rivalries really aren't the same as they used to be 20-30 years ago.. Reason being is money and friendships...

25 years ago, The Chiefs and Raiders hated each other with a passion. You were hard pressed to see a Chief or Raider switch sides and if they did, it was the ultimate sin. Almost ensured a fight...

Now? Shit, players are moving from team to team, Team loyalty is at an all time low. Nobody cares what jersey they wear, just who has the biggest check on game day.

The Fans "want" the rivalries to continue, but the rivalries to the players has been dead years ago. If I play for the Chiefs and Buehler_445 plays for the cheating , I am not going to cheap shot him or fight him just because the "fans" still believe there is a rivalry left... Nah we are going to play nice and head south to the Caymans when the season is over.

Its not your grandpops NFL anymore...

Rivalries are all but dead.
