Fuel filter should be cheap to replace. To run an engine must have fuel, spark, and oxygen. Which one isn't it getting? Answer that and you'll be able to fix your truck. |

if the car is fuel injected and computerized you shouldnt need a timing light the timing is done by the computer and you wouldnt have a distribuitor you would just have coil packs |

Plugs? I'm no expert, but it seems like if the ignition was off they could get fouled pretty quick.

Bingo. I'd bet you have flooded it. You might pull the plugs and see if they are wet with fuel. If they are wet then I'd leave them out for awhile and let the plugs dry along with letting the cylinders air out a bit. |

This system has a distributor cap and rotor. If it is not fouled plugs, then check the rotor and distributor cap for burning or corrosion. If you rotated the distributor that would affect the timing.
FYI, on my 1990 you had to put the system in timing adjust mode to set the base timing. So, you might want to borrow a timing light after you get it running to check your base timing. The module adjusts spark timing, injector timing and duration from there.

I changed the dis.cap, rotor, plugs and wires in probably March. I just now changed a vacuum line that went from something in my motor to some filter that connected to my map sensor. It was busted and still wont start. So I need a timing light then? Hopefully someone I know, knows somebody who has one and knows how to check it. |
