Is this true? I always wondered why he just disappeared and never played for another team once he left the Chiefs.

This and the fact that he was, I think, a 26 year old rookie and was run into the ground the first three years Marty was here.

He was in his 3rd year when Marty arrived. He really only had 1 HUGE carry year. 89.

I’ve looked and looked online trying to find the “Backs By Demand” poster featuring Okoye, Word & Williams. Anyone remember that? I thought Okoye was the shizzle at the time.

Me and a friend were at a Blades game and got into a drunken argument about the Chiefs running back situation. We were standing in the walkway up against a wall just going at it all drunk and loud. My opinion was to keep the tank Okoye and the corvette Williams and get rid of the mid range Word. Funny, but that’s what I thought then. So the argument devolves to a point where rather than make any kind of intelligent points I just start bad mouthing Word. He sucks. He’s terrible…etc. My friend says something along the lines of bet you wouldn’t tell him that to his face. I’m all whatever would to! He says, well why don’t I just tell him for you…..

He walks away and I look up and I SHIT YOU NOT…..I swear to GOD…..coming down the walkway is Word and Saleaumua!

My friend walks right up to them and engages them in conversation and I’m like oh shit…..
After a minute he walks back cracking up….I say….dude you didn’t tell him right. He didn’t. Not sure what he said to them, but in hindsight it’s pretty funny. I’m standing there badmouthing a celebrity of sorts and he comes walking up on us. Unreal.

I swear Saleaumua was damn near as wide as he was tall....
