Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Cloverfield I liked a lot and gave it 8 Stars, Quarantine I was going to give it 7 Stars until the last 20 minutes and dropped it to 6 Stars. The camera work became just too jerky. I had very little problem with Cloverfield shaky camera, and that premise was a small camcorder operated by a non-professional. Quarantine is suppose to be a TV station cameraman operating a professional camera, there was no reason for the unusal amount of jerky images. It actually gave me a headache, but I still would recommend it because it was a good scare.
Sounds interesting. I shall check it out.

Wincott is the greatest unsung actor of my lifetime; everything that mother****er does is gold.

Alright, alright. I've convincingly been told, anyway, that there is no such thing as good or bad taste, so I guess it's only up to personal enjoyment.

I guess he ran out of mentoring-the-hero roles.

Just got done watching Quarantine.

Awesome concept, but jesus what a shitfest.

Maybe I am picky but there are certain things in horror movies that piss me off:
Stupid people. Nothing worse then the morons in horror movies. "Creepy noise? Lets check it out"
Shock tatics. Just because you throw something on screen and make a loud noise does not make it scary. Its startling at best. There is no suspense or tension. Its just a cheap gag.
People in horror films dont realize they are in horror films. I hate it when I am watching a zombie movie and no one seems to equate crazy humans eating other humans fun to zombies. Its the same for vampires. These bastards are attacking and sucking your friends blood dry and yet you dont even mention that there is a remote possibility that it could be a ****ing vampire?
Horror Identity crisis'. Want to give me the slow paced character development so that I care for the characters? Fine. But dont half ass it. Make me care otherwise skip it and just let me assume these characters main purpose is to supply the blood on the walls.
No ending. Nothing worse then a horror movie ending with no resolution, no climax, nothing. Awesome idea. Spend the whole god damn movie working to something and end it without getting there. Thats not clever. Thats aggravating. UGH.

Sorry. Quarantine has all of these problems. Unless you are a huge fan of the shaky cam uber realistic horror genre, I say skip it. This is a poor man's Cloverfield or Blair Witch Project.

/rant

and one warning before you waste your 90 mins:
Spoiler!

I'm "watching" it now. The Factor Of "Meh" is off the charts. It's a veritable Class 5 Meh.
8.6 on the "Meh-cter Scale".

Oh, the humanity!
