I think our rash of retread QB's has caused a lot of people to look back at Trent's time in a negative light - but he was almost everything you could want in a quarterback. He wasn't afraid to sling it, he was a leader on the sidelines, and he was smart. Pat is the first QB since Trent's time who's willing to take the necessary risks for us to win - and Pat has the arm strength that Trent lacked to hit tight windows and chuck it long (as well as actual #1 Wideouts that Trent never had).

Question: What was Trent's YPA? I think that could be a key thing to compare with Alex here (and also show me if I'm mis-remembering Trent's effectiveness)

My impression with Trent was that while he would throw his share of INT's, those would come from taking the chances that we see Mahomes take every Sunday. Many times Trent would just need to put too much air under the ball to hit the tight windows that Pat does with ease.

The 2003 playoff loss is a real outlier from our traditional January disappointment. Trent was a balla that day and could not have played any better - unfortunately for him our defense forgot to take the field and Priest's fumble coupled with the missed FG proved to be too much to overcome.

You da best, Trent.

I remember Trent throwing alot of Red Zone INTs or pick sixes which would cost us points/games.

Strangely, our line looks pretty elite this year. I wonder what changed from last year?

I don't think we threw it as much back then.
I wouldn't either with our OL and Priest etc; the toss sweep and stretch runs, and screens were a thing of beauty.

That.

Alex is Matt Cassel + more mobility and less INTs.

nothing more, nothing less.

This isn't wrong, and I actually think their arm strength was very similar.

But in clutch time, I'm taking 02-05 Trent every time.

not a good look for a former #1 overall pick where it took 10 + years for everything to 'click' (and that's being generous); compared to an 8th rounder on his 3rd NFL team.

Gimme Trent. at least he looked downfield and could make it through more than 1 read on his progressions before bailing on the play to the outlet. and Trent was a competitor. Alex looked like he didn't give a flying rip either way if we won or lost. Just protect that ball and keep the completion % up there.
