Unique keeper question

Standard scoring, standard roster composition. We can keep 1 player each year, either a rookie or anyone drafted after round 10. First year they count as your 18th (last round) rounder. Each subsequent year, if you keep the same guy the round he belongs to is cut in half : 18/9/4/2/1.

I have Andrew Luck as in the 18th as my best keeper on the roster today. However, I have the opportunity to trade for CJ Spiller, and he'd count as my 9th rounder. I'd give up my 3rd rounder for his 4th rounder (serpentine draft). Worst case he and I have the 1st and 2nd picks and I lose 18 spots between rounds. Best case is we have picks 9 and 10 and I barely lose. We won't know draft order until right before the draft. He has RGIII as his backup keeper.

Is it worth it to trade a 3rd for a 4th to get Spiller in the 9th? I think yes.

No.

A) I'm not a big believer in spiller and B) Luck might be a top 5 fantasy QB this year...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

QB is so deep this year though, you can get a Romo or Wilson in the 7/8th round. Front line, every down running backs worth having go about 15 or so deep. Other RBs likely kept are Doug Martin, McCoy, Richardson and Murray. So, the population of worthwhile RB1's gets thin in a hurry.

You are talking about the Bills who are in rebuild mode who already have issues at QB and the season hasn't even started yet. Teams will stack the box and Spiller although a playmaker take it to the house kinda guy, he is just too inconsistent and injury prone for my liking.
