Jynxbox Android HD/XBMC questions.

Anybody got one of these? I'm having issues with charging the remote and there's hardly any info I can find on it online (other than the remotes have been known to have issues).

When I plug it in to charge, the blue led blinks a couple of times, then it seems to slow blink at seemingly random intervals while it's charging. Red led is staying lit, even after a few hours on the charger but remote doesn't seem to be taking the charge and won't work (bluetooth dongle is plugged in).

Also, who's using XBMC? I have hardly any experience with it and was wondering what the must-have add-ons are.

Gogogo!

Check the Cable Cutting thread for advice on XBMC.

Here's a post where Fish (resident XBMC expert) lists some great addons.

Yes, those are all streaming sites and you'll need no storage space for it.

For starters, I would recommend the 1Channel plugin first and foremost. It's a stable plugin with nearly infinite content, both old and new.

Also, check out the Icefilms plugin. It's similar to 1Channel in what it does. It also offers 720p HD choices. The links aren't as consistent as 1Channel sometimes, but you can still find lots of cool stuff there. It also features a Music and Standup comedy section that are really sweet.

There's a Hulu plugin as well that works great. It has options to turn off all commercials, so you'll never have to bother with the commercial breaks. You can access everything you'd find in the browser version, it's the same source. You can even enter your Hulu Plus credentials.

Regarding plugins, there are two ways to install a plugin. The preferable method is to install it via the developers repository. The advantage for doing this, is that when the developer improves the plugin and releases a new version, XBMC will automatically update your plugin to take advantage of the new features. You can also install a plugin directly using just the plugin file, but then you never get updates. Updates can be crucial.

Follow instructions here, and save yourself a ton of time: http://www.xbmchub.com/blog/2012/04/...tion-for-xbmc/

This will install the Fusion source, and give you direct access to all the really cool plugins. Follow the instructions closely.

When you get to step 14 of the above instructions, here's what I would recommend installing:

Go to Fusion\Most Popular

1Channel-repository.bstrdsmkr-0.0.3.zip (1Channel repo)
icefilms-repository.googlecode.anarchintosh-projects.zip (Icefilms repo)
fixed-sportsdevil-plugin.video.SportsDevil...zip (SportsDevil repo for streaming sports)
projectfreetv_giddyup-repository.eldorado.zip (Project FreeTV repo for TV episodes)

Then go to Fusion\Video\free-tv

amazon_hulu_repository.bluecop.xbmc-plugins.zip (Hulu, Free Cable, Amazon repo for streaming each. Note! Hulu must be configured correctly before it will work! Free Cable is a nice one for shows not on Hulu)
xxx_repository.xbmc-adult (porn repo)

That should get you started...
He's also using What the Furk and pays a subscription to Furk, and he says it's awesome.

Nice...reading through that thread, great info, thanks.

One question, which remote app were you using (Official XBMC Remote?)? I'd like to be able to start using this damn thing, but with the remote issues I'm experiencing, no joy. I figure one of the apps will work for me until I can pick up a wireless keyboard w/touchpad, just looking for a rec.

TIA.

I used the official remote. I had to change my port from 8080 (I chose 4040) on the app and in the preferences. I think I might have had to get into my router and change some settings as well.

I went ahead and bought a Logitech keyboard with built in touchpad as well. It's worked pretty well but I end up using my iPad or phone and the remote app just as often.

I'm a big fan of the Constellation remote for iOS. More often than not, I use that on my iPad to control XBMC.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/xbmc...437807301?mt=8

It's got nice features such as showing you your entire XBMC Library, so you can easily scroll through your Library on your iPad itself, and select your desired video. You can directly launch plugins at any time as well. So you can quickly jump to another plugin without navigating around XBMC. And it will allow you to easily seek to a specific point in time in the video you're watching using a slider bar, meaning you can jump instantly to the 1hr. mark without having to FF or anything. It gives you a "Trackpad" like interface to browse XBMC with too, that's really handy. I liked it so much I did the in App upgrade for it as well.

Only downfall is that there isn't an Android version of it.

That sounds pretty sweet (mostly because sometimes you just want to skip straight to the double anal scene, amirite?), too bad no love for the Android.

Goddamn you Steeve Jobs.

I'll give the official one a go to see if I can at least get up and running. If no, I'll probably just download some of the others too and see where I can get with them.

The remote issue is sort of pissing me off, but seeing as how I didn't have to pay for the box, can't really complain too much. I'll see what I can get into with it tonight.

Appreciate the info and the stuff in the other thread. I haven't had cable (Well, legit cable. Paid the guy $75 when he hooked up my internet and had it, but since everything has been converting I'm basically down to networks now) in a while, just doing the MLB TV/Netflix/Etc. route so sort of interested to see what this can do for me.

Not sure. I'm still on iOS 6 until 7 is jailbroken. I run XBMC on my iPad too, so I've yet to upgrade. So it hasn't affected me.

But I'll look around.
