2014-2015 NHL Offseason/Regular Season Thread
Free Agency starts today. I'm probably the worst candidate to keep up an OP with player movement and the like, but figured it would be cool to have a repository for all things NHL leading up to next season.

Anaheim acquires Kesler from Canucks for Bonino, Sbisa, and picks.

-Dallas acquires Spezza from Montreal for Chiasson, others, and a 2nd round pick.
-Avs acquire Briere for Parenteau and a late pick.
-Predators acquire James Neal for Spaling and Hornqvist.
-Marian Gaborik re-signs with Kings.
-Ryan Miller to Canucks via UFA.
-Paul Stastny to the Blues via UFA.
-Jarome Iginla to the Avs via UFA.
-Dan Boyle to the NYR.
-Brad Richards to the Blackhawks.
-Vanek to the Minnesota Wild.
-Robidas to the Maple Leafs.
-Niskanen to the Caps via UFA.

Feel free to add other moves and I'll do my best to update.

I turned on the Capitals/Panthers game on a total whim, and was treated to 20 FREAKING ROUNDS of hot shootout action.

Panthers won.

I gotta admit, I'm starting to get a little pissed that as a 1967 Expansion Team, we keep getting passed over for the Winter Classic.

A Blues/Blackhawks WC?

How the **** does that get passed up this many times?

The Blues' only option for an outdoor game would be Busch stadium, right? If so, my guess is it's at least partially motivated by the fact that the outdoor series is sponsored by Coors. It sounds like that's at least part of the reason we got one at Coors Field.

Penguins trade Marcel Goc to the Blues for Maxim Lapierre.

Oh lord, the Penguins have Downie and Lapierre. Question now is, can they get Cooke back from Minnesota to create a line that every team in the NHL hates with a passion?

It was good to see my favorite two teams get at least a point last night, very exciting game! Roy and his goalie pulling mastery, that is so impressive. The AVS get their change for revenge Friday night, that is going to be a tough one for the Preds coming off a game Thursday Night in the STL.

I sometimes wonder if the Avs should just pull the goalie every time they get a power play. They are absolutely incredible at keeping the puck in the zone with 6 guys out there.

Unfortunately, they're still pretty shaky in other areas of the game, but they're still in the hunt at least.

It would not surprise me if he tried that if the Avs are down two in the 3rd. The just kick ass at that. They need more good D, they just let Varlamov get pelted with shots. A lot of good young forwards, I was relived it did not go to a shootout.
