1st Sporting KC Game on Saturday

so, my wife was given free tickets and a parking pass by her boss earlier this week for the Sporting KC game on Saturday.

I'm a soccer novice, to say the least. Same goes for the wife. My acumen of the game consists of putting the ball in the goal. What should someone who has probably never watched an entire game of soccer in his life, let alone live, look for when watching the game?

also, what section are the Anti Freeze Slurpies served in?

Arrowhead was the shittiest experience unfortunately. Royals second and the mavericks game was the best
I'm curious as to what was so shitty about your experience at Arrowhead. Football is by far the superior game to watch live (yes, I've been to Royals, Sporting, and Mavericks games) so something about the stadium or fans had to really sour your experience at Arrowhead.

The fans just aren't into it anymore, or weren't when I've been to Arrowhead. Getting told to sit down when you're making noise for the defense is disheartening. I was never able to attend a Chiefs game during the 90s run, so I can't speak to how Arrowhead used to be. If it was anything like the distilled passion that is the members stand at Sporting Park, then 1990s Arrowhead must have been the best experience ever.

I've heard the stories of people being told to sit down during games, but I've never experienced it myself. I'm a season ticket holder and have seen over 100 games at Arrowhead and have never been told/asked to sit down. I stand almost the entire game. The fans in my section are always into the game.

I have noticed a slight dip in overall enthusiasm over the years. I contribute this small dip to a couple of factors. First is the cost to attend games. There seems to be a larger collection of "wine and cheese" fans that attend the games. The second factor is that there are far more women that attend games than in past years. While I'm all for any Chiefs fans going to the games, it is clear that many of these females are only there to socialize and could care less about the game.

Drunken fans. One attempted to steal my stocking cap when I dropped it but threw it back when I called him out. Another guy was so shitfaced he was fighting with his woman and was completely belligerent drunk. Police had to come drag him out of the stadium. It was also the San Diego game. Cold, lost players to injury, and they lost in the final minutes. Arrowhead as much as I love it can be a pain in the ass and last season the d bag drunk fans came out in large numbers. I just realized I like to watch the game on TV more than paying obscene dollars for the experience I got at arrowhead.

Royals game was enjoyable experience, no out of hand drunks just a good day at the K.

Mavericks game was exciting and the energy at the venue was electric. I bet sporting park is the same way.

One of the reasons I'm one of the few fans that isn't always thrilled about tailgating. I like the BBQ, the brats, and to have a few, but so many just tailgate so they can get shitfaced. They really don't even care about the game. It's just some socially acceptable way for them to be an sloppy drunk.

That and games start at Noon or 1 pm most of the time. I'm not getting up that early to get shitfaced and then sleep the rest of the day.

Sporting KC is way more fun than the Royals because the crowd is into it the whole game and the team is good. I am sure the Royals would be as awesome if they were worth a shit.

That's my old section, only I was in row 24. You'll be endzone, left of the upright (facing the field), one section away from the Chiefs tunnel. I've been all over Arrowhead, and this section was my favorite when you combine view of the field, and general fan enthusiasm.

Arrowhead is a lot of wasted money and time to support a franchise that puts a decent product on the field once every three or four years.

If you're in it for the disappointment, just save your chiefs ticket money and dump it into Royals games in the spring or summer.
