Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Barkley can't even throw. Geno Smith failed to impress.

Anything is "possible" but it's unlikely.

Luck, RGIII and Wilson appear to be far ahead of any QB in this draft from day one.

Good luck with that.
alex smith is not great. He's just good. But I think he can be great. His career is not over yet. For anyone to say that an athlete at age 28 can't get significantly better is stupid.

I have to defer to the experts such as yourself and other regarding college players, I was just using him as an example since it is likely he will go in rd 1.
I dont get a chance to watch much college ball 8-(

But for the thousandth time...

Alex Smith is not Cassel. So the comparisons are stupid. their careers leading up to joining the Chiefs were completely different.

If Alex Smith had a stable coaching situation for the majority of his career (not to mention the injuries), it's likely that he wouldn't have been available.

And yet every team in the league passed on Wilson in the first 2 rounds. Every team.

Every team in the league passed on Tom Brady for 5 rounds.

So people saying that no QB in this draft is worth a 1st round pick may very well be proven wrong.

You never know which QB prospects will pan. A lot of that is QB development. It is if the kid keep his nose clean and works hard and decides he wants to excel in the NFL, not just get there.

Too many excellent rookie QB prospects are ruined by rushing them into the starting role instead of bringing them along slowly and keeping them successful and confident.

The question is, do you want to take a good athlete and make the effort to develop him with the hope he will become top 10 or do you want to take a middling QB with no hope of ever becoming top 10.
