****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

CBS selected Georgia at Vanderbilt and Auburn at Texas A&M, while South Carolina at Tennessee landed on ESPN in the morning with Arkansas at Alabama and LSU on Mississippi on ESPN or ESPN 2 in the evening.

People like to bash on Mizzou recruiting, but Sam was a ** DE.

The line has already moved from 11 to 8.5 I really wish this was a little later in the day. I really like our chances, but a 10:00 kickoff is killer.

That said...if we win, are we the favorites in the East?

Georgia fans don't like the early start either. They think it will hurt their home field advantage.

Haha...yea... 11? Not my favorite but no worries. 10? **** that noise.

Even though there is something to be said for having a prime time game under the lights like that Oklahoma game a few back I do like the waking up knowing the game is really close. Waiting around for a big game feels like it takes forever sometimes.

Considering they get the other two main contenders at home and just knocked off the favorite on the road, yes, Mizzou would have to be at that point.

I still think Mizzou has no better than a 1/3 shot - this is a tall task - but it's certainly nice to come into that game with a shot.

Mizzou would be 6-0 with the following schedule remaining:

Florida
South Carolina
Tennessee
@Kentucky
@Ole Miss
aTm

They'd have a GREAT shot to finish 10-2(6-2) at that point and a decent one at finishing 11-1 (7-1). At 11-1, Georgia can't catch them.

I might be nuts, but Georgia hasn't really impressed me. They could very easily be 2-3 right now, and they are extremely banged up.

I've seen nothing that makes me think their defense can stop our offense, and they are missing a ton of skill players on offense.

I don't think you're nuts. Their defense has NOT been good, especially compared to a year ago. They still have talent up front, but the back seven is much depleted.

Their offense still has a great offensive line, and a great and experienced senior QB, which will equalize things a bit. Even without Gurley and Marshall and the WRs, they still have good athletes at those spots. The OL will make those inexperienced backs better, and Murray will make those inexperienced WRs/less good WRs better.

Do you see much difference between the effectiveness of Aaron Murray and James Franklin so far? I feel like Franklin is playing like an all-American.

Murray has been tremendous when Georgia has needed him the most. Unless the front four is able to make his life hell he is going to punish the secondary.

He has. Franklin has been tremendous the entire time and has further elevated his play in key moments...particularly by being more aggressive running.

He's turned into the opposite of who he was 2 years ago. Early that year, he was way to quick to scramble. Now, he doesn't like to take off unless he really needs to make a play with his legs. Hopefully it helps him stay healthy.

I think everyone here is underrating Georgia. They lost a close game to Clemson on the road. They beat LSU and South Carolina. Yes, they laid eggs against UNT and Tennessee, but those were classic trap games, not all that dissimilar from how Missouri stumbled all over itself against Ark. St. and struggled mightily with Toledo.

Yes, they are banged up, but they are also coming off of a flat performance. Missouri is going to get their A game on Saturday and the Tigers will be playing their second straight conference road game.

I'd be extremely pleased if Missouri keeps it within a touchdown. I'd say they have a 10% chance of winning.

Georgia's a good team. In fact they're a very good team.

But Mizzou's offense is absolutely legit. Have you seen anything in UGA's defense this year to suggest they should be able to hold Missouri under 30?

It will likely be a shootout. I don't care if you give Murray 4 walk-on WRs, he's just so smart out there that I think he'll be able to score against anyone. That's especially true if Mizzou goes into that shell defense again.

I don't think anyone's sleeping on GA, they're just confident that Mizzou's offense can give them a run. If you're within a score either way in the 4th, you're looking at a 50/50 game with these offenses, IMO.
