How about the defense?

Everyone is talking about the QB and coach for obvious reasons... but how about the defense?

I know Jennings was out, but still... we just played an offense that was playing at a 2007 Patriots level, scored 40+ points on every other team in the division. Our defense completely shut them down, terrorized their line and shut down Rodgers.

Rodgers finished 17/35 for 235 and 1 TD. By far his worst performance of the season. Season lows in completions, passing yards, yds/attempt, and TDs. Only the 2nd time this season he's been held under 250, only the 2nd time he's been held under 8 yds/attempt. First game this season Rodgers did not throw 2 TDs, which is unbelievable. First time this year he had a QB rating under 95 in a game.

Probably as good as a defensive performance by any team this year. Just goes to show how rushing passer is probably almost as important as having a QB.

I said this earlier, but I think the D was on par with how they've played all year. The difference was the O sustaining drives instead of going 3 and out over and over and over...

oh, the defense was the MVP of this game without a doubt. The offense needs to turn all those redzone trips to TDs and then I'll start being more impressed with them.

Hali could have had 5 sacks if he had wrapped up on two of them but you can't possibly ask for a better pass rusher than him. Dude is a monster.

The D played lights out today... and have been recently. But the O was too inept and by the end of the games, the D was gassed.

Not bad for a guy who would never be better than a 3rd pass rusher on a decent team

Give the offense Charles and Moeaki back and it will happen.

But this thread is about the defense and I loved this game. I am sure Gaz is proud.

I'm not taking a thing away from our defense at all, but Green Bay just didn't play like they've played all year. Rogers probably had as many drops today from his receivers as he's had all year long. And that's not even mentioning how FUBAR'd his offensive line was.

Still, our defense played lights out. Just imagine what it could have been if Stevie Johnson hadn't gone after Berry's knee.

Once our offense decides to quit completely failing this D will take a huge step up...

I'm kind of stoked about our pass rush next year. Houston is coming along. He had a great push up the middle on Hali's sack/fumble. And Baily showed some potential on his sack -- he looked like he came out of a cannon.

Really looking forward to getting Berry back too.

They have been a bright spot in a bad year at times. Today was definitely one of them. They might not get enough credit directly. But Crennel's fingerprints are there so indirectly they will.

I agree with you 100% this was without a doubt our best defensive performance of the year.

Some of those drops were because Rodgers was uncomfortable and pushing the ball out quicker than he normally would. Part of that was the pass rush, part of it the backfield play, and some of it was undoubtedly the Packers O-line injuries.

As good as the defense has been recently, it's going to be fun to see how good they are when the offense can consistently put together extended drives instead of a four-and-out every possession.
