Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Where did you get it from? I ask because its listed at $249 on the Lucid website.

Amazon. The seller is WebyShops. They still have them. And I wouldn't put too much stock in the "only three left!" bit - they only had three left before they sent me one. Just keep in mind that the 3x magnifier does NOT screw into the sight - only the 2x.

Another thing I love about this sight - with my old red dot (the one I picked up at Cabela's when I first got the rifle), I had to use a coin or screwdriver to dial it in - on this one, you just twist the knobs. Much better.

I'm trying to decide on whether or not to get the 2x magnifier in this bundle, or just get the site for $199 and waiting until their variable 2x-5x magnifier is available - http://www.mylucidgear.com/magnifiers.php .

And check this out - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=379989 . That guy had the site + 2x magnifier bundle for $199 up until the 24th

Now that I have a little time to hang out, what would you guys recommend for a home defense weapon that the Mrs. would feel comfortable using as well?

Shit, for that price, I'd jump on it. The screw in capability is really convenient.

One thing for mounting the 3x, I'll have to move the sight really far forward for the flip to side mount for the magnifier to fit - actually far enough forward that it'll be over the delta ring a bit. It's possible that a cantilevered mount (like this one http://www.amazon.com/ProMag-PM004A-.../dp/B003BAHT28) would be a better choice here. I should get both the 3x and the mount delivered tomorrow, so I'll follow up with thoughts on it then. I may end up getting a scope rail extension.

The learning curve here is a bit pricy, but damn it's fun.

You might want to start with a revolver. Not as intimidating as a semi-auto for a novice, easy to care for, you can instantly determine if it's loaded or not. You could get a mid-sized .357 and run .38 rounds through it. The kick from the .38 rounds won't be bad for her.

Okay, I ordered the site for $199. I emailed the owner/founder of Lucid (Jason) with questions about the variable magnifier and he answered within an hour, which is cool:

Quote:
Dear Kevin,

Thank you for the interest in LUCID.

(1) We estimate that the 2x-5x variable magnifier will be available mid May.

(2) Due to the large variety in end user's equipment set up and requirements a mount for the magnifier will be a separate item. We will carry and recommend the ADM Swing off mount for use with the HD7.

(3) There are a wide variety of mounts on the market that will work quite nicely.

The mount industry is fairly complex with patents and locked up intellectual property. So much so that LUCID will simply make the optics and let the folks that already own the mounts space make the mounts.

Thank You & Best Regards,

Jason Wilson
Primary & Founder
