What internet network do you have?

For eight years, my family and I used Linksys. During all those years, we've lost internet signal and every time that happened, we'd have to plug it off from the outlet and plug it back in. Recently our internet has not been working very well, so we switched to Netgear. The man that came to our house that brought Netgear told us that online gaming (PS3 online, Xbox live, etc) will slow down the internet connection once you begin playing online. So far that has nothing has changed as far as our signal strength. My mom and dad seem to have perfect connection for the most part, but we've already had to plug it off and plug it back on a couple times. Also, ever since we've gotten Netgear, it always takes a while for a page to load up on my laptop, especially facebook. For some reason, facebook is really slow for me.

The router is set up in my room and we are with Time Warner.

I was curious as to what you guys use and if your satisfied with it.

Timewarner has been VERY,VERY inconsistent lately. It's like they have maxed out their bandwidth or something and if too many customers get on at the same time it becomes overloaded.

I also seem to have problems when it's windy outside. Maybe Time Warner has some kind of loose line connection somewhere that gets effected by the wind.

I fired Timw Warner last year. Now we have SureWest. They're better but cost more. I have been looking into ATT UVerse. For the money, you get A LOT. It costs more than SureWest however, and I'm not really much of a TV watcher anyway.

DirecTV has the best deal wrt channels/price, but no decent bundled hi speed internet & phone. Sattelite broadband is NOT worthy of discussion. DTV does have a partnership with ATT, but it is for a crappy DSL bundle (not worth the $ charged).

Good question. I have ATT DSL. In the last few months, I have had problems and they have come out to repair it a few times. Once a couple months ago, it was a problem with the actual phone line (on their end). The last time (2-3 weeks ago) the repair tech said she put a filter directly on where the line comes into the house so that I didn't need filters on every jack. She said that takes care of problems 90 some percent of the time. Well, I have had my ATT signal drop a few times since then. It doesn't stay out for as long anymore, but it still goes out.

I am just sick of this. I want something else but don't want to pay too much, either. Currently, I get 3Mbps for $30/month. Anyone know of something similar for a similar price?

My parents have ATT DSL and it has ran nearly flawless. The longest downtime has been 2 hours and that happend once.

My gf and I have TWC and it's been on/off esp when we got it installed initially but after a month or so its been pretty good. We use a linksys as well

I'm on Linksys and Surewest. I lose my connection a couple of times per day but only for a minute or so. No issues with the TV or phone though.

How long are you down before you resort to unplugging the router? You may just need to sit tight for a minute or two.

I have UVerse. Works good for me.

Ive heard you can actually order the entire UVerse package (video+internet) and then cancel the video later if you want? Keeping only internet.

Linksys or DLink. Cheap, ubiquitous.
