Dayton Moore Appreciation Thread

We tend to run GMs, Coaches, and Mangers out pretty quickly. Let's take a look at what Dayton has done here. 2012 was especially good. What is your favorite Dayton move?

Salvador Perez:

On February 27, 2012, Pérez signed a five-year, $7 million extension that includes three club options. He is under team control through 2019. He could earn up to $26.75 million if he reaches all of his incentives and all of his options are picked up. The extension covers his pre-arbitration seasons, two of his three arbitration eligible years, and, if all of his options are picked up, his final arbitration year and his first two years of free agency.[2] Pérez will earn $.75 million in 2012, $1 million in 2013, $1.5 million in 2014, $1.75 million in 2015 and $2 million in 2016. His options are $3.75 million in 2017, $5 million in 2018 and $6 million in 2019.

Big Game:

On December 9, 2012, Shields was traded to the Kansas City Royals (along with Wade Davis) in exchange for Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, Mike Montgomery and Patrick Leonard.[16] In his first year as a Royal, Shields posted a 13-9 record with a 3.15 ERA, also setting a personal best in games started. On October 31, 2013 the Kansas City Royals exercised a $13.5 million option on Shields for the 2014 season.

Hosmer:

Drafted in 2008. In the 2014 postseason, Hosmer helped lead the Royals to a record-setting run, winning three consecutive extra-inning games. After getting on base five times in the wildcard game against the Oakland A's, Hosmer also slammed a game-winning, two-run homer in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. In doing so, the first baseman became the first player in MLB history to hit both a triple and a home run during extra innings in one year's postseason.

Need help nowish?:

innegan was considered a top prospect for the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.[7] The Kansas City Royals selected Finnegan in the first round, 17th overall, of the draft.[8] He signed on June 28.[9] Finnegan was called up to the majors for the first time on September 1, 2014 becoming the first player from the 2014 Draft to be promoted to the majors

Please stop. Hindsight is 20/20. Rarely is any baseball player a sure thing. Sometimes the studs play like it and sometimes they fizzle out.

Is there anyone in the Royals farm system other than Zimmer and Finnegan that are worthy of being on the big league roster starting next season?

also...is there a good site to tracker minor league players development etc? Maybe I'm just lazy but I have a hard time following the Royals minor league talent.

Sure beats the days of trades like the Carlos Beltran trade.

it wasn't a post to indicate he could have done any better. A lot of these appear to be panning out.

why? I was also looking for his guys acquired from latin America, but couldn't put really locate much. I think if you put it all together from draft record, latin signings and trades he's done a great job for us. I probably could have left off who he could have got, because no one really does know who will pan out and who won't. Dayton seems to have had some solid drafts, and a couple that are starting to look like they're not going to be so great.

Better?

Fair enough. Usually when one sees a post like that it is assumed as a knock on how awful our GM is at drafting and on who he missed out on.
