Setting up my son's iPod Touch

Ok, so a generous co-worker gave me his old, 2nd generation iPod Touch to give to my son for his 13th birthday.

My question is, how do I get the music that he already has under my wife's iTunes account over to his iPod? Do I set up a new user account? Ideas?

There's not much downside, if any, in letting him continue to use your wife's account, IMO.

Ahh sonofa... Is it an Intel Mac? The latest OS is cheap. Heck, I have a license I would be willing to give you if you can run it. 10.7 or 10.8.

If it's a PowerPC Mac, you might be out of luck...

Check by clicking the Apple in the upper left corner, then About the Mac. It will tell you the CPU type. PowerPC, Core2Duo, i3, etc. If it's an Intel, I can help you out......

Man you are really a blessing. I appreciate all your work, here. I'm currently running 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I hope that helps. I'm so clueless sometimes.

Fish is an Apple genius. Not the kind that works at the Apple store (as far as I know), but the kind that usually has all the answers for CPers with Apple questions.

Apparently so. I'm impressed. I'm also considering your recommendation...I just know that he's going to keep buying music, and I figure while he doesn't have a boatload of music (maybe under 60 songs right now), I can set him up with an account. Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate all of you!

I don't know Fish and have never met him, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's unlikely to be a condescending phony hipster.

My apologies Fish if you ARE a condescending phony hipster.
