Need advice for a 12 gauge shotgun.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 8 year old Remington 870 Express. I've been eyeing the CZ-USA 912 Semi-Auto. I use my 12 gauge mostly for sporting clays and I have heard nothing but good things about CZ's products. I'm looking to spend $600-$800. What are some recommendations. I know we have a gun thread, but nobody cares :-).

I had low expectations of the semi auto before I shot it but, I did just as well with it as I did the Browning that was 5 X the price. Tri-Star like CZ is a Turkish manufactured gun. I am thinking seriously about purchasing one or the other.

I have a Mossberg 500 I usr for duck hunting and a nice Winchester. I love them bit but the Mossberg is excellent for duck and clays. Only reason I would change it isif I got a semi auto.

Benelli's are great but they are pretty spendy. I've heard great things about the Remington VersaMax line. I'm probably going to pick one up before the end of the year. For clays you'll probably want to make sure you have the minimum barrel length for where you want to shoot. I think some places can be 24-26".

Then again this would probably be awesome for sporting clays too!

Do you happen to work 2nd Amendment Sports in Bakersfield Ca lol. Those were the two guns I was eyeing the whole time I was there. I think I'm going with the SuperNova because the price range meets my financial situation. Crazy that you mentioned the two guns I was looking at and only looking at.

I'd stick with the Remington 870 and just change the barrel to a tighter/looser choke if it's not hitting the clays.

Helluva gun IMHO.

I have an 870 Express and I don't think I'd change. Sure, its plain-jane looking, but its super dependable and there are tons of upgrades / mods you can get for it. I used a semi auto 12 recently and it was very unreliable...made me appreciate my simpler 870. Plus, you get that pump action sound that will scare the bejeeezus out of an intruder.

I've always been a huge Ithica/SKB guy. Never had a problem with them. Very dependable and affordable. I currently own 5 different 12 ga and one 10 ga. All semi autos.

However, can't go wrong with browning, Beretta or Benelli.
