The Chiefs are DOOOMED! 2012 Mock.

1. Andrew Luck, QB; Stanford
- The Chiefs are without their three most talented players for the entire 2011 season in Berry, Charles and Moeaki. It's all on Cassel's shoulders and without Charles to take the pressure off in the run and Moeaki for the emergency valve in the pass, Cassel will prove that he isn't an NFL starting QB and the Chiefs will prove out that they are the frontrunners for the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Basically, no other team lost as much as the Chiefs did when those three went down. Sure, Seattle looks like they are making a solid effort to tank the season and Indy is garbage, but the Chiefs are left with Cassel as their starting QB, a horrible OT situation and a defensive line that can't stop the run. That's in addition to having one of the most difficult schedules in 2011.

Everybody circle your calenders for October 9 for the Chiefs/Colts Andrew Luck Miracle First Pick in the 2012 Draft Bowl. That crapfest should determine the Luck winner. And it's in Indy. :-)



2. Matt Reynolds, OT; BYU
- Reynolds is a three time all-conference starter at left tackle and has the size (6'6", 330 lbs.) and athleticism to play either tackle position effectively. Plays through the whistle and looks to put his guy on the ground every play. Nasty on-field demeanor. Third highest rated recruit in BYU history.



3. Vic Ballard, RB; Mississippi State
- Ballard is having a huge year to date for the Bulldogs and runs with a nice blend of power, speed and vision. Looked good running behind first team AA OT Sherrod last year and looks even better this year.



4. Rhett Ellison, TE; USC
- There is absolutely no talent on the Chiefs at the TE position past Moeaki, whose continued injury filled career dictates that the Chiefs will have to look at drafting another high quality player at that position. Ellison is similar to Moeaki in that he's a very well rounded player who has excellent hands and can block effectively.



5. Derek Wolfe, DT/DE; Cincinnati
- At 6'5", 305 lbs., he fits the prototype for the five tech position in a 34 defense. Big, strong and tenacious, Wolfe has collected nine sacks and 15 TFL over the past two years.



6. Alex Hurst, OT; LSU
- Solid in both pass and run and could potentially play either RT or RG.



7. David Snow, C; Texas
- Started at center for the Longhorns in 2010 after playing RG as a sophomore.

Safety depth at this point should come in the form of free agency as we have two young, but solid starters at the positions in Lewis and Berry.

As well, I think that with the maturation of the current players on roster such as Jalil Brown, you could see a player such as Javier Arenas be flexible enough to move over to a safety spot if such a thing like a season ending injury ever happens again to Berry or Lewis.

The problem is, with Berry going out for the season with an ACL, people that don't know jack squat such as Boobie Prize are going to want to spend a high draft pick on a safety just so that we have starting material backup in case Berry ever goes down again rather than attempt to get starting grade players at other positions where we actually need new starting grade level players such as quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, running back, et al.

Not sure why the Chiefs would use their 2nd on an OT over a C like Brewster or Konz.

I wouldn't use a high pick on a backup safety, but I'd like to see us grab one if possible. The 3 guys we have playing backup now suck ass.

You all will probably get sick of me in this section of the forum, but its kind of where I lurked as a member at ChiefsCoalition. I any event, I'll offer some opinions...

Jury is still out on the suck for luck sweepstakes, but otherwise I agree with some guys on this list.

I really like Reynolds quite a bit. The guy is pretty damn good and would probably go higher if he was on a really good team from a higher profile school. I always liked BYU O-lineman. His partner in crime, Braden Hansen, is a pretty damn good guard in his own right and should go around round 4. I'd have a tough time not picking Reynolds in round 2. The one player I do like that could upset that opinion if he's still around is Ryan Broyles but I need to see Baldwin on the field and see what the Chiefs really have as a WR combination.

Personally, I like Ballard, but I'd rather address DE earlier than RB. I really like Still from Penn State. It'd be nice if Short declares out of Purdue. Both are probably round 3 guys. I just don't like Tyson Jackson at all.

Keep an eye on Alameda Ta'Amu from Washington at NT as a first round option. I think that could depend on where the Chiefs end up picking. Right now, I'm really hoping for Burfict at ILB. I also like Michael Brewster, OC, Ohio State a ton. I'm not necessarily convinced that moving Hudson is the greatest move ever but I have yet to see him play enough snaps at center to cement that opinion.

Speaking of Ohio State players, you might get a similar TE to Ellison a bit later in Jake Stoneburner.
