Sunday Ticket comes to PS3

Those of you who don't want DirecTV, go out and buy a PS3, then shell out another 340 for Sunday Ticket.

Yep called last night. Lady told me best she could do is offer me 6 payments of 37.99. I laughed at her and told her that was the regular price.

She said there was nothing available. The best part of the conversation was that she told me that the credits I had were still on my account despite the fact that they haven't been on my bill for 2 months. She then proceeded to argue with me that even though they weren't on my bill, they are still active on the account.

I told her I needed to go because it honestly made my head hurt.

The only thing I would recommend doing is calling in.....directly asking for retention and then asking for a supervisor right off the bat. I'd lay out how many years you've been with them and how much you pay them a year. If they still won't do anything....then I'd just cancel on the spot. It's bullshit they won't even give you a break on the price at all.

That's what I'm going to do in a few days.

I've been with them 10 years. My bills every month average 150, and went as high as 240 last year. My brother has been with them a year and a half, no premiums, only 2 TVs in his house and got Sunday Ticket last year for free and then got it this year, with a Genie, genie to go, a 200 dollar visa gift card, free HD for a year, 3 months of movie channels and 20 bucks off his bill for a year.

I didn't ask for any of that but free Sunday Ticket. Just unreal.

FWIW....I didn't offer up any ultimatums when I called in. I simply stated that I could save WAY more money by going with Comcast and Madden 25 for the Sunday Ticket. The guy tried to feed me some bullshit line about Comcast adding in fees for their receivers and I simply reminded him that DirecTV does the same thing. He offered me the money off and I told him that wasn't going to cover up the huge cost differential. Then he offered me Sunday ticket for free if I renewed for a year.

So my contract will be up this time next year.....when it's time to renew Sunday ticket again. Works for me...

That's great advice. I'll use that when I call in again.

I would definatley call back in and go straight to cancelation BG. They gave me more than I was asking for on the third transfer, and im under contract. Had to renew to upgrade to the genie last year. I dont see how they would give it to you free especially if you use the madden deal as leverage.

Do you live where they don't show Chiefs games on TV? If you did you might understand. I've been in that position for 30 years (much of which I had no options at all), so I really appreciate Sunday Ticket. I can't have DirectTV here (condo), so I'm going the Madden route. You do what you have to do.

Don't get me wrong, I understand why you need it. I just can't believe the hoops you guys have to jump through just to get a decent deal on it. Then, why some of you get it free while others can't get them to budge an inch. Just seems like they don't really care if you stay or not.

Yeah, I think the NFL should offer all the games as Pay Per View on cable, or some other way other than only through DirectTV. The lack of competition is bad for fans.

The problem is it is VERY VERY good for the NFL. DirectTV pays WAY more for Sunday Ticket rights than they actually are worth on their own. This is because directtv uses Sunday ticket to sell their TV service(and retain the existing customers).

If the NFL were to offer Sunday Ticket rights in a non exclusive manner it's likely they would see significantly lower revenue from their TV rights. I'm sure this is what their research has shown them. If it wasn't they wouldn't sell exclusive rights, they would sell the package to everyone.

That may change now. Back when DTV first entered into that contract, there weren't as many competitors in the space. Now you have Comcast, Dish Network, Uverse, Verizon Fios, Google Fiber (hopefully growing fast) and many other regional networks. They could spread out the rights and make a pretty penny once that exclusive contract ends.

So I was able to receive somebody's log in info for the Sunday Ticket. Is there a way I can bring up the games through my PS3 via Internet?

It depends if the PS3 browser supports the video player that Direct TV uses.
