Since the SEC is going the conference network route rather than going all-in on tier 1/2 value (not that they need any help at all there), he probably wouldn't want them anyway.
Interesting. Would we take Va Tech?

For what its worth, a lot of the rumors say Virginia Tech, and one of the North Carolina schools, either UNC or NC State. That would give them 2 more states if they start an SEC network.

If the SEC goes to 16, you can bet at the upcoming meetings they are going to demand conference semi finals and auto qualifying status for their champion. B!G and Big 12 will follow suit.

If the SEC wants to expand, I don't know that I have a preference between Virginia and Virginia Tech. Outside of Texas, the SEC has the flagship school in every state within their footprint.

So will the PAC.

They sure don't catch much flak over only adding Utah and Colorado, by the way. Pretty sub-par additions since the Texas and Oklahoma thing seems to be dead.

Clay Travis laid out a pretty convincing thesis today for Va Tech to go to the SEC.

http://outkickthecoverage.com/virgin...-sec-fever.php

Also I think the SEC could hold a 9 game schedule as the carrot for ESPN to go all-in with an SEC Network. If you add two more schools and expand the conference schedule to 9 games, that provides a ton of extra inventory for a new network.

Agree, I would take either. Va Tech actually has a much higher enrollment and stronger following in the state, as UVa is more of a public Ivy that has a lot of out-of-state students that leave the state after graduation.

I imagine the PAC would get creative with football only associate members unless some weird by-law restricted it. Outside of San Diego St and possibly Hawaii, I don't see an institution that would make their academic standards for full conference inclusion. They have resisted San Diego St because they don't want the recruiting competition and Hawaii is small and far away.

UVA, despite their athletic mediocrity, is still more popular in the DC demographic, as well.

This should roughly be about the point where the smug or angry skeptics in the northern ACC schools flip over to "oh shit, this is really happening" mode.

They really painted themselves into a corner. BYU could be a possibility. I don't know who else, though. You're looking at crap like San Diego State, New Mexico...

LOL after following that link, in the comments, the guy with the four separate divisions is a dumbass. It will always and forever be SEC East and SEC West. ****ing idiot. And I like VaTech and I'll take NC State. I would never condone UNC and UK in the same conference in basketball. Ever. Too much dick sucking for my taste.
