Andy Reid, John Dorsey and the Kansas City Chiefs defensive coaches descended on Oregon last week where the Ducks help their pro day. Of interest was Dion Jordan, the defensive end / outside linebacker, who is considered one of the top prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft. Now there's this from Tony Pauline:



I'm assuming this is a separate visit to the Chiefs facilities, and not just seeing him at Oregon's pro day last week.

(This is the part where we read way too much into one visit.) It makes some sense though. Drafting this high you want players who can throw the ball or those who can get to the guy throwing the ball. There are plenty of question marks about Jordan as a possible No. 1 pick as it relates specifically to the Chiefs -- Tamba? Houston? -- but on the surface I can see why Reid and Dorsey would be interested in using the top pick on a pass rusher. We covered a lot of the Chiefs-specific stuff in this post.

Reid spoke to reporters from the NFL owners meetings in Arizona this week and told USA Today's Jim Corbett that Dorsey has "put a tour together" to go see all the players who they might pick No. 1 overall. Reid said that, so far, they'd hit two schools: Oregon and BYU. The interest at BYU could be for defensive end / outside linebacker Ezekiel Ansah, who the Chiefs met with at the Combine.

I don't know if we could really go wrong with either Mingo,Ansah, or Jordan.

Yeah, I like him, and he may have been close, but with that type of defense, lack of production just bothers me a bit.


Damn, though, all these pass rushers are pretty risky for the first overall pick.

Are there some clips of him in space off the edge? The one I saw against ND, he seemed to be lining up as a 34 DE if im not mistaken.

I don't think he has the frame to play 34 DE. He's either a 34 OLB or a 43 DE, IMO.

I'v watched a little of Jordan because I took him in the ALT Mock draft. I like him and his height. I think he could be really good off the edge.

He looked much better playing the 7 as a 3-4 OLB than he did in any other position IMO.

We aren't going to it, but as a 4 man front, Star, Poe, Houston and Tamba would be interesting to see.

Admittedly, I'm a fan of Star, but upon further review, I don't think he really is a great fit in the 34 we are looking to run.
