****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

I'd stay away from Gabe DeArmonds twitter, he is in full Steckel defense mode.

Henson did not have his best game, but he wasn't bad.

This loss is all on the defense. Pinkel will never allow for Steckel to go after the team's record, so it's a moot point, but our back seven talent and his adjustments are the reason why we lost.

If Missouri wants to compete in the future they'll need to start getting 4 and 5 * players in the back of the defense. We have the talent at DE, WR, RB, and QB, and if they can keep getting kids like Boehm, Bauer, and Wallace, they'll have it on the OL too.

Steckel was just outclassed schematically. Moreover, the team had poor fundamentals.

I didn't think we'd win, and I knew they'd gash us, but this was Tommie Frazier, Cory Schlesinger, and Lawrence Phillips bad.

I have no problem with the 3-man front against that offense. You get faster athletes on the field.
What I hated was seeing the DEs fly upfield all night long, leaving a huge vertical gap. I guess the thinking was that the backers can fill quicker inside the puller than outside, but Wilson isn't nearly athletic enough to play a gap that wide.

And let's be honest, Missouri has been an undisciplined defense all year. That's why SCAR could march down the field with screens. They just waited for the DL to bite on the ole the OL gave them, and then it was shooting fish in a barrel.

I am usually at the end of the line in terms of people who want to blame a coach or an individual, but Steckel was severely outcoached and the poor talent on defense outside of the line is really starting to show.

Congrats to Mizzou on a great season even if the final game didn't turn out how you wanted.

I thought everything changed once Auburn took that cheap shot on Josey. I can't believe that isn't being discussed more during all this.

Exactly my thoughts as well. I would not mind seeing Steckel retire.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. It was definitely a late hit out of bounds, by a kid who was definitely trying to put a little something extra on the opposing player. But I also don't feel like he intended for what happened to happen.

I think he should have been ejected, but at the same time, I don't think he was aiming for the cart or whatever.

The momentum seemed to turn against us around that time, but it didn't make our secondary less talented or cause the loss really.

And I don't think many people realize this, and I know the announcers for this game didn't realize it, but MU's run defense had been bad all year. Only reason it wasn't telegraphed heavily was because the other team kept having to play catch up.

Auburn might've been the worst match-up possible.

Appreciated, but we still scored a TD on the next play, then scored the 2pt'er. It was the defense that shit itself for the infinitieth time right after that. Maybe he makes a difference on the last two drives, but we still lose b/c the D can't get a stop.

A lot like the no-punt game against the Colts in the 2003 playoffs. You can't score indefinitely, eventually you have to get a stop or you won't win.
