Jeff Flanagan: "Tyler Bray slow to grasp pro system"

http://msn.foxsports.com/kansas-city...-murray-051014

In a puff piece on Aaron Murray, an interesting tidbit:

Quote:
The Chiefs already have starter Alex Smith, backup Chase Daniel and developmental quarterback Tyler Bray.

The Chiefs could save $1.4 million if they were to release Daniel. Bray, though, seems the most vulnerable. Although the Chiefs love his arm strength, he was slow to grasp the pro system.

Murray likely won't have those issues since he already has played in a pro passing system at Georgia.

Daniel was captain checkdown all game long. He was garbage and still is.

That being said, I think the Chiefs keep 4 QBs. The way they've approached their entire roster, I don't think they like paying Daniel that much money but feel obligated until they find his replacement. Murray is very unlikely to leapfrog to backup this season. I think next year, Daniel is almost definitely cut if Murray progresses as we think he should.

I'm a Mizzou fan and loved Daniel as a Tiger. However, He's making too much dough as a clipboard holder and zero potential as an everyday starter. The money can be put to better use as part of Houston's extension

I think its Smith, Daniel and Murray this year....with Murray being deactivated most games.

But yes, it would be nice if Murray leapfrogs Daniel next season.

Anybody thinking that Murray gives you anything over Daniel is a reerun. Flat out, full on reerun.

Murray was a ****ing waste of a pick.

**** that guy. **** that pick.
C'mon, dude. They are much different players. Many of Murray's problems are coachable. Murray has a better arm and accuracy, and has proven he can run a pro offense and has upside to be a really smart QB. Daniel was a spread QB who in his experience as a pro QB is a pure one-read then check down QB with some athleticism.

Be honest, you have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not Murray can be better than Daniel at this point.

No idea, no clue... be honest.

If Smith goes down

Who would you rather have of the three. Anyone remember how good Daniel looked in the San Diego game? Anyone remember the name of his mentor - that short guy in New Orleans. Bray will be the odd man out. As he should be.

We can only pray that happens. It is pretty rough having that much money on the pine as it is.

Damnit.

Fake a Smith injury, get Bray in there against a shitty defense and run some basic plays.

He will Wow everyone, and we can flip him for a 3rd next year.

Matt Hasselbeck and Mark Brunnell should be included
