I don't know what you mean by game breaker because it doesn't get much better. The guy had 722 yards and 8 TD's his senior season with an average of 16 yards a catch. He's an all-around TE, but that does t mean he's just an average receiver. There is a reason he was compared to guys like Rob Gronkowski coming out.

It doesn't get much better?

A "poor man's Rob Gronkowski" is not the same as being compared to Rob Gronkowski.

He's not an above average receiver. He'll never be Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, or even Rob Gronkowski. He's a guy that can stretch the field in a straight line and maul defenders at the line of scrimmage. He's not a dynamic playmaker and likely never will be.

Those guys are ELITE not just above average. It's a lot to expect that out of just about any prospect. He does have that kind of potential in my opinion with his unique ability to make plays after the catch. That tier right under though? A guy like Jason Witten? He has that potential no doubt. If you think that's not true than you're just a lot more down on the guy than most. Above average is a tier under elite. That quality you speak of that he lacks is the difference between the two, but Kelce at least has the potential to be a tier 2 TE in the NFL.

Yeah, I'm more down on him than most here are. I'm a HUGE TE guy. It's one of my favorite positions. I watch a lot of them. And in this offense, with Alex Smith, I think a stud TE would be the kind of matchup nightmare we need.

I really don't know if I see Kelce even being a 2nd tier guy. I suppose he could be but in the end, that's not really what I want, or what I think this team needs. This team needs an elite TE, IMO, and Travis Kelce isn't it.

Honestly, I'd be really surprised if he comes back well from micro fracture surgery, so any discussion about his potential is moot anyway.

It doesn't mean much, but that doesn't say "poor mans". I would prefer an elite TE also and would be ecstatic if we got Ebron, but those guys are hard to find. This offense would be much better with a guy like Witten, and with an upgrade at WR to go with it we'd be set.

It doesn't mean much, but that doesn't say "poor mans". You act as if it's ridiculous to expect this guy to be a pretty significant upgrade to what we had last year.
Dude, my grandma would be a significant upgrade to what we had last year. Fasano is ****ing garbage.

And please don't post NFL.com profiles here, it's likely to get you attacked for no reason.

I like Kelce's measurable at TE in Reid's offense more than I do Commings measurable converting from CB to SHS in Suttons scheme.

It's a coin flip between the two. One had microfracture surgery and you will wonder how quick he will be out of the block now or how crisps his cuts will be and the other had one or two bum shoulder/collarbone/whatever surgeries and you are going to wonder if we still have a FS that patty cake angles on the ball carrier in the open field as the last line of defense because he's afraid to hit (ala Kendrick Lewis after his shoulder injury. A lot of guys do this in the secondary when their top frame gets ****ed up in their careers, they become gun shy).

Probability states that at least one of these two will pan out.

He wasn't ever crisp with his cuts before the micro fracture surgery.

He's pretty fast in a straight line and he's hard as **** to bring down in the open field, but saying he's not a polished route runner is a pretty big understatement.

He was a REALLY good blocker in college though. Good leverage, excellent strength, and it came from his legs. It will be interesting to see if the surgery affects that.

Like I said it doesn't mean much and I could give two shits what nfl.com says, but I like the guy a lot and with a predominantly intermediate passing game a guy that can stretch the field and get yards after the catch is all we really need. And you're right it doesn't take much to improve from what we had last year which makes a tier 2 guy a HUGE improvement.

I was messing with you on the NFL.com thing.

Somebody made a comment similar to what I said below the other day and a couple of people instantly blasted him for "plagiarizing" Kelce's NFL.com scouting profile.

Saying anything remotely negative about the Chiefs has become taboo around here lately.

And yes, a Tier 2 guy would be a huge improvement. I just hope that Travis Kelce doesn't prevent them from continuing to look for somebody better.

Ohh ok gotcha, but I guess all we can do is wait and see. I know one thing with the lack of free agency moves and a second round pick it's nice to have two good young prospects at positions of need coming in with our draft class this year. We need all the young talent we can get.
