Chiefs In Driver's Seat -Need for A QB Leads Suitors To Go After Chiefs' No. 1 Pick

Take it for what it's worth, but this article came out on Yahoo today.

"Could desperate need for QB lead suitors to go after Chiefs' No. 1 pick?"

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--co...082652681.html

"As quarterback quandaries play out around the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs hope that one leads to enough desperation for a team to trade up for their No. 1 overall pick.

Could one such bidder be the Oakland Raiders, owners of the No. 3 pick, where quarterback Carson Palmer appears willing to force himself out of the franchise?

"I certainly hope so," one Chiefs source said Thursday when asked about Palmer and whether his uncertain future could force the Raiders to deal.

The problem for the Chiefs, who are under the stewardship of new coach Andy Reid and first-year general manager John Dorsey, is that they likely require the perceived need for a quarterback to cause enough panic that some team will feel obliged to trade up for West Virginia's Geno Smith. Smith is considered the top quarterback in a draft that pales in comparison to the crop from a year ago.

Joeckel? Nothing says "Win Now" like trading your veteran LT and protecting your QB with a rookie.
let me ask you a question.

First, do you think that I am judging the chiefs on personal opinion, or am i judging the chiefs on a what they have done so far kind of logic. Kind of reading the tea leaves.

Resigning Bowe, signing not one, but two of the top corners on the market in Robinson, and Smith, Trading for Alex Smith, (regardless of public perception, this was a good football move) signing Donnie Avery. These are moves that state we are trying to win now. Not, we are going to take a rookie qb, and hope for the best, even if we dont think he is a franchise qb, or a qb that can win this year.

Now, mind you, I understand that everything changes if they do draft Geno, which is a very real possibility.

Is it also not possible with what you know of Andy Reid, as he values left tackles, and right tackles the same, that they dont trade Albert, they draft joeckel and put him at right tackle?

I mean that would see to signify another win now move wouldnt it?

If Oakland trade out more picks to replace Palmer, I'd bet Oakland fans would behead and crucify the GM for it

It also doesn't equal the necessity for trading up three spots to take one universally regarded as not worth the #1 pick.

I think Sean Payton knew what he was doing.

Brees was not the same QB with the Chargers than he is with the Saints. When he united with SP something ignited.

There's 4 elite QB's in the league right now and you can put them in any order you want:

Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Manning

I think the winning combination is franchise QB/the right head coach.

Brees/Norv Turner - nah
Brees/Sean Payton - yes

Basically. Most raiders fans aren't even considering Geno a real possibility. The latest poll on Silver and Black had Letting Pryor take the start far in the lead with getting Matt Flynn in second;

i was just giving you crap bro. I loved the pick of reggie when you got him. I also loved drew brees signing with you guys.......just messing.

i do agree with you on the coach thing. A LOT. Hence why i get so frustrated when people belittle how much jim harbaugh helped alex smith.....

Oh noes! He's not universally accepted as the next Andrew Luck! Don't take a chance on him, despite the obvious potential!

You get your opinions straight from the mouth of Kiper and McShay.

The Browns have already signed Cambell to go with Weeden. Plus they stated going into camp Weeden is the starting QB.

Arizona has already stated numerously that they are not taking a QB in the first round.

Do you even follow football outside of this forum?
What people "say" and what they do ultimately are two different things. The six weeks leading up to the draft are just full of deception.

BUF's link to Nassib sounds alot like Jimmy Clausen's link to the Chiefs because we had Charlie Weiss as OC. We passed on him in both rounds before the Panthers took him.

Matt Flynn was "defiinitely" going to Miami because his old OC was there. Didn't happen. I don't believe the Nassib nonsense at all. No one thinks he is a top 10 talent. No, they need to get the #1 QB in the worst way, but will pretend to express interest in other QBs or picking some defensive guy.

Same with ARZ. yeah, their HC says they are perfectly happy starting Drew Stanton and you believe that crap? That's like him saying he is perfectly content with being fired next year.
