Any young QB's worth trading out of the 1st overall for?

Assuming the QB talent blows nutsack in the draft this year?

Colin Kaepernick is looking pretty nasty right now...

Damn haven't you been paying attention. It is Fire Pioli of course.

On a serious note is get a new GM and HC in here and let the type of offense they intend run dictate which QB they draft. The HC should realize that we need an OC and a QB's coach that has had success with rookie QBs.

The Chiefs should draft a QB in the first, another in the 3rd or 4th, and pick up one in free agency. Because I don't want any of the mother****ers we have now to even sniff the locker room next year, and I want to make sure we hit on at least one QB.

*and btw, we better get somebody who knows how to develop a QB, because anybody that thinks Kaepernick would have looked like that playing for the Chiefs coaching staff has been sniffing too much glue.

Spending a first and a third on two different QB's in the same year, when the Chiefs have needs elsewhere, is ridiculous.

Plus, why would you put your OC and QB coach in a position to develop not one but two rookies?

God I hope you guys are right about Geno. I wish I could get the TCU game out of my head. I've seen the Baylor, TCU and OU games and if it weren't for the TCU game, I wouldn't feel the slightest bit of apprehension about the dude. Don't get me wrong, I think he's bad ass....just wish I could get that TCU shit out of my mind.

NFL fans around the league have been absolutely spoiled by RGIII and Luck over the past two years. It seems like people have forgotten that Rookies are rarely ever a "sure thing." To underline this analysis, I would compare Geno's current season to Matthew Stafford's senior year. Matthew Stafford's Georgia team entered the 2008 season as the unquestioned #1 in the league, and while Stafford had a solid season, he had a few disappointing showings against the toughest SEC teams in the conference. Because of this, many fans on here were hesitant to select him (when we were in the running.)

However, Detroit took the leap, and it seems to have worked out for them thus far.

And that's the thing with most rookie quarterbacks, when it comes down to it, teams are almost always going to have to take a leap of faith that he will be a franchise guy. If not? Cut your losses, and try it again in the next five years.

Even if it took a couple of tries, a team would likely see success (a playoff win) within 20 years using that formula.

Harbaugh appears to have a pretty complex system out there the way Grudawg was talking last night... So Kap seems to really be a really cerebral QB who probably could pick up any playbook..

Pretty impressed with him in what I saw last night, SF looked better with him than with Alex

Util this team gets a franchise QB all other needs are irrelevant...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Unless Jim Harbaugh comes along with one of the 49ers QBs, I don't want any of them.

Alex Smith says coaching is underrated.
