Question about legalities, ethics with tickets..??

I buy Chiefs tickets through my company every year, and I've always done things like hide "easter eggs" on my website or do random drawings, etc. where I give away the tickets (and try to draw traffic to my website, of course.)

It's fun, but the traffic I get is not targeted at all, and the ROI just isn't cutting it.

I've never liked the idea of trying to make money on tickets by selling them for more than face value. All sorts of reasons, but mainly I just don't like that.

What if I were to sell $1 entries to a random drawing, though? Is that something you would do? You try each week for 10 weeks, you're only out $10. You might win one week and score great seats to a good game.

Would that carry the same sort of bad ethical vibe as raping people on the face value of tickets? Would it be legal? I mean, I could potentially come out with quite a bit more than the face value of the ticket, but I didn't sell the ticket for more than face value...I just sold entries to the contest. Am I still an ass hole?

Seeking honest opinions about something like that. Would it be fun for you? Maybe like a scratch off ticket? Or would I end up in a conspiracy theory, get my personal and business name run through the mud, and wish I'd never become a Chiefs fan in the first place?

Why not just buy the tickets for the games you want to attend if you are going through all this hoopla?

I'm not sure it's legal to run a raffle if you're a business. I could be wrong, but it seems like there's some problem with that.

My company does prize drawings for surveys, but they don't require money from the respondent. I know that's legal, but I think at a minimum you have to jump through some hoops to do a raffle.

As a side story, one of my employees called a survey respondent yesterday to tell her that she'd won a $200 cash prize. The woman refused, thinking it was a scam, even though she'd completed our survey and entered her name into the drawing.

This. What you're doing is basically a lottery, which may not be OK depending on where you are.
