Marcus Peters rides bike during National Anthem

Protest or no?

Thoughts?

This is not LA or San Fran. or Seattle.

I do feel that if I went into a work environment where there was management, customers, and fellow employees and started a racially based form of protest that I would be ushered out the door by security with my paper box within the hour.

Why can't this be addressed the same way... If you dropped to a knee or raised your fist as a racial protest on your job do you think you would have an unscheduled meeting with the head of HR within hours maybe minutes... Dammed straight you would!!!

I feel that the NFL owners are afraid to put their foot down on this because Goodell has probably said behind closed doors that it will cause a civil rights investigation and\or lawsuit. Probably quietly said that the league could not survive the fall out from sponsors, media, and fans. They are afraid of the loss of revenue, assets (team value) and nothing more. If they didn't have a few skeletons in the closet it may be different. but i don't think that is the case.
The worst part for the NFL is that they would have to open it's private records up to the Feds and all the dirt will come running out like overturning a rock in the forest. Yes, that's right, a snake might bite them!
That where you use the power of the pen (on the depth chart)... I'm sure the kid behind him would love to get the chance to play a little more. Hell, he'd probably be willing to keep standing for the anthem to help set it up.

And they should do the same for the for the criminals on the team.

Goodell has chosen a side, and I hope Clark realizes a lot of us rural hillbillies that fill the seats from week to week will not fork over our pennies to be told that the country we love will be disrespected and we will like it... and PAY FOR IT!!

Marcus Peters is an awesome talent at corner. But I have no use for him if he decides he hates the common folk that support the Chiefs AND the United States. He certainly has his rights, but I have mine too.
How did he communicate that he hates "the common folk that support the Chiefs AND the United States."

I think Colin Kaepernick picked a rather ineffective way to improve the situation he claimed to care about. But, truth is, you can go on about your life without letting it bother you and without lying about it.

This country is not about lying about how harmful it is for someone in a football uniform to do what people in the stands are doing while the national anthem is playing.

A league that has military appreciation day for homes games closest to veterans day is somehow your problem because players that earned the right to play on Sundays are not forced to appear to pay respect during the national anthem.

Makes sense.

If that shit was so much fun, why don't they force everybody to do that no matter if on a military base or not.

Hockey players take knees:

(wait, that wasn't a knee, but it might have been a reaction to another player who took a knee during the anthem)

I'm as rabid a Chiefs fan as anyone on here but tired of seeing punks like Peters making millions of dollars playing a game for a living and then piss on our great country while turning lots of people away from the great game. If he feels so oppressed, too bad - many of us are sick of waking up every day watching idiots like him mock our flag and country while they're enjoying the benefits it's provided them. The USA, or white property owes Peters nothing, period.

That's why you have much stronger opinions on the matter than most people. But that doesn't mean that everyone else is required to match your level of reverence. And it has nothing to do with lack of respect for the country, even though you see it that way. Soldiers and their families view this in a very different light than the rest of the country. You cannot simply force that onto others when it was never a part of their life.

My prediction (albeit an easy one) is coming true......the media (sports media at that), are going to shove this down our throats ad nauseam, throughout the season.

This goes away as soon as the networks stop covering it - and quite honestly, it's old news anyways, everyone after Kap is just a copy-cat/clone, and the message isnt much different (if at all) anyways.

I'm serious that I feel this will continue until some sort of petition (to not cover it during sports broadcasts) is sent to advertisers who advertise with the NFL, letting them know we wont buy their products if they continue to slam this crap down our throats.

If companies worry about losing some money, only then you'll see this go away.

And I still cant get over people still argue this as a "free speech" issue.....

I don't care.

I'm well beyond fed up with the emphasis put on who does or doesn't stand during the national anthem. The fact that Marshawn Lynch did it for his whole career and nobody ever said a ****ing thing should indicate what a media created shit-show this is.

My problem has NOTHING to do with the players. It has everything to do with the media's obsession with creating racial division as a whole. It's destructive, hateful, and malicious.

I can see the strings attached to every person who reacts with moral panic to this issue.
