Post Pioli, are we looking at a full rebuild?

Let's be optimistic and imagine for a moment that the end of this season brings the axe, and Pioli, Crennel, Cassel, and most of the team's major problems are swept out as Clark Hunt proves he is not an absentee owner and does in fact care about winning.

Are we looking at a near total rebuild, at this point?

This would be a team with no GM, no coaching staff worth retaining, and no quarterback. Most of Pioli's draft choices have melted away like cotton candy. If we had a window when we snuck into that Wild Card game, it seems to have closed. But the Chiefs are the 8th youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.8

Would we find a new GM attempting to retain talent like Bowe, Dorsey, Johnson, etc?

Or are we in "blow it up except for Houston, Hali, and a few select parts" territory?

Do the fans have the stomach for another rebuild?

Yep. The Rams are a perfect example. They are 3-2 with the only real difference being a quality head coach. We have more taken than that team so with a coach and QB we are right where we want to be.

Guys like Jackson, Dorsey, Belcher, Lewis, all of our NT's, Arenas, McCluster, Baldwin, our interior linemen and our TE's are nothing but role players on teams like the Pats, Packers, Ravens, etc.
The Patriots are a horrible example. They recycle those types of players every year like they are getting 10 cents each in Michigan.

They do that for two simple reasons which are the two things we need the most, a QB and a head coach.

He sucked at it in the 4-3 as a rookie, too.
In college, he got away with bull rushing. But his strength was really that his first step was uncanny, kind of like Hali's, and that he had unbelievable quickness.

Gun was stupid because he lined him up at the Nose. Romeo's scheme under-utilizes him by making him a read and react player instead of being a guy that bursts off the snap.

I think if you got him back into attacking instead of spending the majority of the time reading and reacting, he can learn the instincts to become the player he's supposed to be. I think 1-gap really fits his skill sets nicely. But to do that, you have to let him do that every day and get out of the habits of read and react.

I think this entire team has been demoralized by the Cassel experience and the FO's inability to recognize what a failure it has been.

So no, we dont need a rebuild for player personnel, we need a change of outlook that can only be brought on by a new GM, head coach, a full staff of coordinators, position coaches, and assistants. Once we have all of that, then we can go out and draft the God blessed quarterback we need. If we make the right choice, the players we retain will kick it into high gear because they will want to.
Came here to post basically this. Our team is completely deflated right now by Cassels play. The matter how much of a professional you are, you're still a human being. If you feel like you can't win, your play is going to slip.

And that's not going to change until RAC decides to attack first and not wait until we're down by 21.

Teams don't seem to get in cap hell with tons of dead money anymore, and Pioli certainly has not here. No such thing really as a full rebuild anyway. We're okay talent wise (not great, just okay), with a new GM, HC, and QB, no reason we can't be competitive immediately.

the rams had a HUGE turnover

they went out and had like 10 draft picks. they rebuilt their WRs, TEs, and RB depth.

they replaced a ****ing like a 9 overall draft pick RT in the same draft as Tyson Jackson with BARRY RICHARDSON

they dropped 50 million on a CB play maker FA. they added like 2 new LBers, 2 new DTs (1 a FA and 1 a rookie)

there was a massive turnover on that team. The same would happen to us

Dude.

He does not have burst off the snap.

He is not good at penetrating.

He will never succeed as a one-gap penetrator.

I have seen him try to pass rush and get upfield.

He blows.

He's a guy who is great at one thing: 2-gapping.

All the scouting reports said that was his strength, too. NOT pass rushing.

I think going to a four man line would be stupid. I think utilizing most of the talent we have in an attacking, one gap 3-4 scheme would be smart.

I like the Erhardt-Perkins offensive scheme, and think we have the receivers for it.

I think a total rebuild would be a big mistake. There is talent in place to build on.

A real QB makes a huge difference. We leave points on the field all the time as it is.

Turnover for the sake of turnover isn't always a good thing. They have scored one offensive TD the past four games so they still have no offensive talent so building depth at WR, TE, and RB doesn't seem to have done much for them.

So are you saying adding Barry Richardson is a good thing?

They are still made up of just a bunch of guys besides Finnegan and their bookend d linemen.

They play some of the ugliest football games anyone has seen. But it works for them and Fischer understands it and coaches to his team's strengths. Something we don't seem to do very much.
